Page 2 of 5 Vitamin D and Analogues:Cream, ointment and scalp solution containing Calcipotriol 50 micrograms/g/L. NOTE: Maximum weekly dose should not exceed 100g. If you are combining the cream/ointment and the scalp application be aware that you should not exceed 5mg Calcipotriol in one week and therefore need to balance the use of both (i.e. 60g of cream/ointment and 30ml of scalp application) – (see Dovonex FAQ).
Ointment containing Calcitriol 3 micrograms/g. NOTE: Do not cover more than 35% of body surface per day with more than 30g.
Ointment containing Tacalcitol 4 micrograms/g. NOTE: maximum 10g daily.
Gel containing Tazarotene 0.05%. NOTE: 12 weeks maximum use unless otherwise directed.
Vitamin D with Corticosteroid: Ointment containing calcipotriol 50 micrograms/g and betamethasone 0.05% (potent). NOTE: Apply once daily to maximum 30% body surface and for up to 4 weeks with a maximum 15mg daily (see Dovobet FAQ).
Dithranol (Anthralin) - Dithranol Ointment BP in yellow soft paraffin with strengths between 01-2%. PO over 1% dithranol.
- Dithranol Paste BP in zinc and salicylic acid (Lassar’s paste) with strengths between 01-1% dithranol.
- Dithrocream (Dermal)
Cream containing dithranol 0.1%. For skin and scalp application. Under 0.5% suitable for overnight treatment/over 0.5% maximum 1 hour contact. PO over 1% dithranol.
Cream containing dithranol 1%. A 3% version is used on an in-patient basis. NOTE: 30 minute maximum contact time.
Ointment containing dithranol 0.11%, coal tar 1% and salicylic acid 1.6% and scalp gel containing dithranol 0.25%, salicylic acid 1.6%.
Zinc and Salicylic Acid Paste (Lassars paste) containing zinc oxide 24% and salicylic acid 2% in white soft paraffin.
It is also possible to have a solution of Salicylic Acid in Olive Oil on prescription with strengths between 2-5% for scalp application - ask your prescribing physician.
Hydrocortisone Non-proprietary: Hydrocortisone PO cream or ointment 0.5% (mild) Proprietary: Cream containing hydrocortisone 0.5% (mild).

Cream containing hydrocortisone 1% and clotrimazole 1% (mild). NOTE: 15g tube available over the counter.
- Daktacort (Janssen-Cilag) PO
Cream containing hydrocortisone 1% and miconazole nitrate 2% (mild).
Cream containing hydrocortisone acetate 1% and fusidic acid 2% (mild) and ointment containing hydrocortisone acetate 1% and sodium fusidate 2% (mild).
