Contacts/Would like to meet Board

 Bearing in mind That P is a disfiguring disease,and a lot of sufferers lack self confidence because of this,& so are sat at home alone,when there could be somebody out there with similar problems,also sat alone,is it not a good idea to get a Contact/Message board going,purely for Members of this excellent Group?Come on.....it could get worse for any one of us in the future.... I know that I'd hope that there'd be someone for me out there.......

On one hand it is a great idea for the reasons you put forward...

But on the other it isn't. It could be open to real 'abuse'...anyone can view these boards, not just members, and even then do you really 'know' the person who you might meet up with?

We don't really 'know' each other. We see a name/pic/graphic, we read words but there is nothing to say the person you interact with here isn't actually a 'monster' pretending to be someone else...

Of course, 99.9999% of the people here are good, honest, funny and lovely people.

As much as the idea appeals, I truly think it would be impossible....

Everyone here is contactable by IM, perhaps that is the way forward?

We have the annoucement boards for things like this, and this is another reason why we should get more Flake Breaks up and running

Have to agree with SJ on this.

People are free to IM each other if the fancy takes them - and setting up a specific "contact or dating" board might lead to abuse.  We already have the Chit Chat board for the discussion of all things non-psoriasis related and if people want to chat real time then the chat room is there too.  

I understand your reasons for suggesting the idea I'm just not convinced its a good move.

In a way we already do have a board to meet people on, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login I have meet several People from this site and i certainly never found any of them lacking sefl confidence. (In fact most of them are off there rockers)

And beside's NitroNick is the ONLY one allowed a Harem on here (who remembers that!)

I would say that it would be safer to met up in groups rather than on a one to one basis mainly because there is safety in numbers especially in the case of women.

I think its a good idea Schoey, but alas, rather than try and do something positive like this and find ways to make it work safely, it will instead (much like the adult chat idea) be discarded (too many cooks spoiled the.....).

I think this is actually a good idea.

Time and time again on these boards, people are talking about how they cannot form proper relationships because of their p, and are scared of rejection if they mention their p to a new partner, so where better to try and meet a partner.

I know there are risks with meeting people on a one to one through internet sites and chat rooms, but at the end of the day even someone you think you know well can turn out to be someone quite different - as i know to well from a recent experience !

Anyway enough of my waffle - I have voted for a contacts board - well done Schoey for bringing it up !

Thanks Pumpkin.What brought this about is a post on the History Room board "Never Had a Date Because of P". Me myself,I'm in a relationship,and my P is currently under control,but for many people,their P is causing a lack of self confidence,and,especially if its visible Psoriasis i.e,Face,Hands etc, they're not going to want to go out to clubs or pubs to find a partner,because it will make one self conscious(the same way I feel if I wear shorts or T shirts).My point is that you could make the Board PURELY for Pho.Uk members,and maybe,regulate it in a way,i.e I.Ms purely within this site.
   But,without a board,who's gonna know who's single and or looking for someone? One or two members have suggested Chat rooms for this,but surely for our members,its safer to do this sort of thing on this site,as there will be LESS thickheads to spoil it.If everyones registered as members who might use the Board,there would be less chance of abuse.
 Just a thought,anyway. READ THAT POST on the History Room.
P.S...Nobody's gonna read this thread buried on the Feedback Board.

chris nothing no matter how people try will be safe on the net.
personally i think that if people want to meet others for more than just a bit of fun on the boards they should write this on their profile,letting people contact them bonly on here then e-mail its their choice

as for the adult chitchat chris it cant of been that bad 4 ya on chitchat i mean u deleted urself then  re-joined :-/
