That's absolutely fine, I tried enlighten you based on experience of this forum over many years. if you feel that is of no use, then so be it.

The consensus on this thread is that another board is not required, I agree for the reasons stated.
Think PHO is Great? Why not donate!

Hang on a minute, I made this post as an idea for a new board to keep members on the forum.

Some of you (The usual suspects) Just don't get it  :-\

Joan: your quote, And it may sort the chaff from from the wheat...... Do you just want chaff or wheat ? is'nt it better to have a good mix of both? And there is nothing wrong with you liking the chit chat board as it is. with my suggestion you would have a choice to view the opt in board.

Nicky: your quote, If it aint broke don't fix it Its not broke but it is braking & needs mending.

Luvvi, I had a bet on you saying you have heard it all before. Just ask yourself why do you keep posting that comment ?

TrishR: Your quote, A non modetated board is totally unnecessary on here my opinion. Please read my posts again I have never asked for a non moderated board.

All I have done is try to make a suggestion for a new board, to quote Joan "so the chaffe & the wheat" can help each other with a common problem P & PA.

The forum needs a good mix of people, yes there are a lot of members but just go into the member list and pick some at random and see when they joind how many posts they made & when they last posted.

I you keep a happy community you have more members.

This is a very good forum for information, but it's time that some of you pulled your head out of the sand and realised we are losing members.

Well that is unless you want a forum full of 1 type of psoriasis suffer only  :o

Ummmm cos I have heard it all before!

Every now and again someone appears and wants to shake things up....then there is the usual debate and the same old arguments get rolled out!

PHO is about psoriasis not chit chat....chit chat adds a welcome distraction but its not the purpose of the forum!  I enjoy a bit of banter but.....and I have said this before  ;) If it was to be pulled tomorrow it wouldn't bother me a jot!  The Rec/Lab/Alt/PA boards are the substance that makes PHO work!

Now did you have a bet on that response and did you win?  Perhaps you would like to give me a tip for the Scottish National since you're a betting man  ;)

Funnily enough, I don't agree, Luvvi!  For me, PHO is all about chit chat.   Psoriasis is part of it, but I don't want it to take over my life completely, so prefer to keep it in the background most of the time. It's great to be able to ask for advice, but sometimes it doesn't help at all.  Yesterday I almost had a panic attack cos people said that moisturising before UVB wasn't a good idea.  I thought I had wasted 5 sessions.  Turns out that it's okay to use aqueous cream before being fried.  So you have to be careful about the advice that you're given.

I have quite a lot of pm contact with people I've met through PHO, but most of the chat isn't about p.  It's about other stuff that goes on in our lives, despite p.  I never read the Rec/Lab/Alt/PA boards.  No interest.  So, as they say, different strokes for different folks!  Whatever that means  :)

Then I don't understand why you are on the forum and from what I can see Loretta you have asked for plenty of advice on the "real" boards since you joined.  The reason we are all here is that is some point we needed help on managing our condition and "googled" psoriasis!!!  As for the conflicting advice, that's because every member on here has had different advice given to them over the years by their Dermatologists!  At least on the Rec/Lab boards we can find out what the current directive is on treatment and what worked and what didn't!  There is a wealth of knowledge on the boards and some of the member are indeed more knowledgable than others!

I certainly don't let psoriasis take over my life and perhaps that's why the chit chat aspect of it doesn't really bother me I do have lots of interests which don't involve being on the internet!

You don't need to come onto a forum like PHO if you just want to chat to people, there are loads of chatrooms out there however, the common ground is we do all have psoriasis!

I have tried to make a suggestion about a new board to keep members, unfortunately some people are not interested in keeping valuable members who can help others.

Shame on you.

I will finish here by saying all i was suggesting was a way of keeping members interested in the forum, and i still believe that if you keep members the better we can help others.

I started this thread, so i will now close it due to lack of interest.

Fred.

How soon before UV exposure do you mean? If it's less than a few hours then I wouldn't risk getting lathered up in _any_ kind of emollient as it could drastically increase the degree of penetration of UV into you skin. Don't get burnt! It's really bad for you  :)

Best regards,
Daniel.

Oh, nearly forgot what the thread was about...

Personally I don't think the suggested board is necessary _but_ then neither do I think it would be a bad thing. So for all I care the board can be created! or not... Really, I'm not bothered. Oh, OK then, I would quite like it 'cos from time to time I could read the arguments for entertainment value. Oh, hang on, thats just happened here in this board... So we don't need it. But just 'cos it's not _needed_ ..... I can't make my mind up! AAAaaaarrrrgggghhh!  :) ;) :D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(
My time, is yours.

i cant personally see what difference and opt in board would make and as ar as i can see most of us are still here , other than those who ended up deleteing through being upset by something posted on chit chat and im guessing that for them to go they didnt need the support for their p or pa anymore else they wouldnt of gone.
Yes i will say that things have changed since i joined up , the chat room used to be full all the time for a start but we are still all about and maybe now have better things to do , people change things happen that change their lives , this is just one tiny part of peoples days where we can get advice find out how the people we have come to know as friends are , maybe arrange to meet up with them , and yes share a few jokes and bits of news asks for opinions too about things, but no matter where you put posts opt in or not there will be times when people just wont agree or do upset others by something they may say and thats when people go adding another board would surely just double the chances of that happening , we wont all agree all of the time and we cant all agree all of the time its human nature
