Ideas to raise money for PHO
« on: April 16, 2011, 10:43:00 AM »

Hi All,

We are looking for ideas to raise money for PHO! We would really appreciate any suggestions you have to raise money to keep the site running?

As you know, PHO is run on donations from both the members and the moderators. As the site has grown over time we have moved to more expensive hosting to manage the load and make the site more reliable. Over the last 6 to 12 few months the costs of running PHO have remained fairly stable but the incoming donations have diminished to almost nothing. I guess you don’t have to be a mathematician to work out that this can’t go on indefinitely and if this trend continues by the end of this year/beginning of next then PHO will have run out of funds and will effectively cease to exist.

We are looking for ways to raise funds and secure our future if you have any ideas that you think may help then please let us know.

Please reply to this thread with your ideas.

Finally, to those that have already donated and shown their appreciation, a big thank you!

Kindest Regards
The PHO Team

Male Prostitution? Not sure that you would get much for Roger thou ;D

I know it's a touchy subject and kinda goes against the spirit of this site but maybe a limited amount of Advertising in say the Chat Room? Lets face it the Chat Room has nothing to do with Psoriasis and can not be seen by those who just read the Forum and not register.

Other then that I can only suggest the Mods get there Thongs and whips out  :o

alot of the time i guess people just forget cos its not mandatory to donate, but as you say it cant continue

i dont see anything wrong with sending out a reminder for donations to members on a circular basis from time to time say once a month or so, i think that would help

i still say the costs should be known tho  :-\ sorry my view

Hi Darren,

It costs approx £120 per month to keep the site going and on average we receive £22.50 per month from donations via PayPal, apart from that the mods donate small monthly sums but both of these combined don't cover the costs unfortunately.

Thanks
TSD

thats not a bad figure but as you say with limited donations its cant continue

the sending out reminders might be enough to gain this shortfall ?  worth a try possibly

i also wouldnt think it would be wrong for it to be advertised on the chit chat board say once a month as a reminder again

never any shame in asking  8)

n i dont wanna see roger in a thong ta  ;D ;D

Is it possible to set up a Direct Debit into the PHO Account? And then those who do donate on a monthly basis get a "badge" or tag in there profile saying they are a Contributing Member?

If you say £2 per month then you only need 60 people to Contribute and the site is safe for many years to come.

I'll be happy to set up a Direct Debit meaning you only have 59 more mugs users to sign up.

Good idea Nick, you can donate monthly amounts via the paypal subscription service..

Have a look here: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Looks like I could create another group for members that would show that they have donated or subscribed.. I will have a look at the best option..

Thanks again all..

DD's are a good idea, how about a PHO lotto sign up for £3 a month with £1 to the lotto fund to be drawn on a monthly basis?

Regular begging messages will tug the heartstrings , but I have always said that the more info you give, the more transparent the organisation becomes. I had no idea it cost £120 a month to host the site. I have stuffed some used £20's in your top pocket for now
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me...than a full frontal Lobotomy!!!
