i think its a good idea...they have special needs for especially difficult situations. Parents posts searching for common answers or even support can get lost in the crowd.

To be honest I'm not sure.  I think the more boards we have the more information that can get lost in translation.  There are many of us on the boards who either have kids with p or we have p ourselves that we fear we may genetically passed on to our children.  I'm sure those who join because of their children will find more support and help on the general boards.  The mods created a "young peoples" board due to requests from members and I think its really under utilised also.

TBH I thought the REC board covers this, having too many boards I think dilutes the focus a bit. The search function is very powerful and can help sift through for specifics.

a couple of points...

At many times there are more visitors here then members...Often they may be unfamiliar with a computer, a forum or a search function.. since this goes worldwide, they may  language difficulties...Parents have pressing needs and rather then just general banter, they may need answers rather quickly. To find a parents and children room rather then looking through all the posts I think would be a positive thing.

There are members familiar with the forum who know what they are looking for and can't find it.

A case in point..recently in the alternatives vitamin D posts... a parent had a good result with their child of 9... That thread is  over 100 pages..how would another parent, from some other country and some other language ever find it?

The majority of guests are web search robots, so this may be mis-leading.

There are pro's and cons on both approaches. I still support the search function method. Opinions 'eh. Pesky things!

i agree with what is said here. we all have p and can all offer advise whether we have children or not. A lot of info in the lab room and rec room covers all ages anyway so i personally do not feel that there is any need for another room as it just singles out yet another group of people. The young persons room doesnt really get much useage these days as evryone does use the above two rooms or for a chill out hangs out on chit chat!

Hi roger...you said, The majority of guests are web search robots, so this may be mis-leading.

I'm curious, how is that determined?...i always notice more guests during the UK day..but at night (late) there are very few. Since robots don't sleep..one would think it would be the same..In Who's here..I do notice some guests parked at the door..and others in particular rooms..would that indicate the the difference? or is IP addys?

I thought the majority of  guests were actual people and i assumed largely foreign to the UK...perhaps thats not true as you say.... If it's only for the people we see in this forum, then there probably isn't a need.
thanks ...bj

Hi Roger

That used to be the case but I switched off the ability for Robots to trawl the site when we were having the response/speed issues some weeks ago. I haven't switched that back on. I would think that the majority of visitors are now genuine rather than robots..

Wether we need another board or not is still debatable though.. The last couple of boards we added, the younger members board and the members regimes board don't get a lot of traffic compared to the rest and like you I think having lots of different boards can be confusing...but happy to go with the majority

Cheers
Michael
