I personally think an area for parents is an excellent idea as they have a totally different type of question to ask as against an adult P sufferer just looking for answers for themselves.

However, I doubt a room on its own would receive much traffic as is the case with the under 19's room, so why not combine the two?

Parents could read how other children are feeling/coping and likewise, children could read the problems and anxietys faced by the parents. Both groups could well benefit from reading each others posts.

Mmm I'm not sure about combining the two.  One of the points of having the younger focused room was to give younger members a space of their own  - away from us oldies.  I think having it as a mix of parents and younger people would be a backward step.

Personally I think that the current boards are enough and that the Rec Room and the Lab do the job.

Guy has a good point I don't think it's a good idea combining the two but I can see the point of having a parents area as it would create  a space where parents can enquire and those of us who have experienced P young can post our experiences.

P is hard enough to handle as a child but it must be hard for parents whose children develop P without some understanding of what is going on. I know my parents could have done with some clear advice when I was diagnosed at the age of seven.

The thing is if such a board did not get sufficent use we can always move the posts to the rec room if we decide not to keep it so in my opinion it would not hurt to try.

I agree it's a good idea, but don't think it should be combined with the young people's board.

Could it be a self-contained mini ("child"?) board under/within the Rec Room?

i as a mum to jimmie find all the boards interesting and helpful, obviously the ones regarding children are a little more in touch with thee issues regarding everyday life for children but in a whole i dont think theres a need for a seperate board. I like the uncomplicated waay that the boards are sited and it doesnt take a lot to confuse me  ;D ...
