Hi Guys

I should put you out of your misery - sorry for the delayed response.

Basically the forum uses a couple of cookies that it downloads to your pc when you first login. These are held on your pc and the Forum software uses them to remember that you are logged on. They just contain your username and password. If the forum software can't see the cookies on your pc then it will not show you as logged in.

If you tick the box, "always stayed logged in" when you login but then switch off your pc the forum software wont be able to see the cookies so it will not show you as logged on. When you switch your pc back on and then go back to the forum it will show logged in as the software will again be able to see the cookies on your pc.

That is how all sites work that say "do you want me to remember your username and password for next time" they download a cookie to your pc with your details in it.

Clear as mud right?

Cheers
Michael
