Why dont we wrie some FAQ and answers on here
« on: August 13, 2003, 04:07:10 PM »
Hi I think this site needs a FAQ section and answers attached to them. There seems to be so many repetetive questions occuring on the fourms. Maybe certain members can write from experience on common subjects. It can be a pain having to reply to UVB posts over 200 times a month.  This would also help with forum maintenance I suspect.

Not many posts to my name. But each reply is worth 20yrs of P experience.

excellent idea ... and perhaps create some major topics into which comments might be grouped? e.g. UVB, Scalp, MTX, .....

Also there are some bits re MTX etc.
Look at top of board. when you are in a board there is a section below the members online (top one ) called online resources.
In there are several sections.
In treatments section there is SJ's text on MTX

We are in the middle of doing such stuff...MTX, PUVA, UVB have been covered in detail and I am about to do acitretin and in depth topicals (summer came and I stopped until the sun goes back in and the evenings are darker!).

The mods have discussed exactly this, Lee. With so many new members there will always be repetition and this is not a bad thing because all experiences are different. Apparently, if you do a search for P and MTX/UVB on Google, our pages are top of the list!

As much as FAQ is a good idea it may make some newbies feel the topic has been covered and  they don't want to raise it again?

what about moving the search facility to a more prominent location on each page? This maybe useful, as people use the facility habitually when surfing anyway

There is something not so visible about yellow text, cos the search is at the top of each page. I do think tho that the info is not as accessable as it might be and a few layers too deep.

Hi Su,

I agree ....

I will answer the same question from a new sufferer without hesitation.

As the interaction will be unique as they respond to the info' ...

Result .... we may ... BOTH ... learn something new.

A "dumb" FAQ  ... though useful ... would kill that ...  :P

Just a thought!

Too right Tom, this is all about individuals and every body has an individual experience of p - best not to 'lump' certain stuff together

FAQ might end up reading like a guide and have the feel of 'no deviation from the aforementioned' we all know that stuff comes up on the boards over and over again, but it always comes out different due to the people who respond and their slant on the topic

I'd hate to loose the freshness and personal touch I feel the board has now

I don't care how many times the same topic comes up - I'll always take part if I feel I have something worthy to add!!
