Chat problems
« on: January 03, 2011, 02:37:14 AM »
I've been having a terrible time with chat. Sometimes when it loads, I get 3 screens: Top is chat posts. Middle is disclaimer, and bottom is type screen. You type in and it makes the sound, sometimes the post shows up, and sometimes it doesn't show up for ages. Eventually, it doesn't show up at all.

I got booted out, logged back in, and it showed up in the come-back screen! That's never happened where it carried over to a second screen. On the first time I got in, it wouldn't let me log out no matter how many times I typed in "/quit", but when I closed the chat window, I was apparently logged out. New Year's glitch?

Hi,

Seems to be working OK for me. What browser are you using?

Anyone else having problems?

Thanks

No problems with me !

Flex and I use Safari ~ although she has OS X (Tiger) whilst I use OS X (Leopard) but she has had other small issues that have cropped up.

Flex ~ suggest you go to Safari > Reset Safari > tick all the boxes > Reset.

Then go to System Preferences > Software Update > Update. Once you've updated all your software then hit 'Apple' logo > Restart.

You should be running the latest version of Safari which is Safari 5.0.3. To check this go to Safari > About Safari.

That could fix things !

Actually, I'm using Firefox. Its only started doing this these last couple of days. Of course it could be my massively crappy wifi, but its been like this since I've moved here and hasn't been quite *this* stuffed up until now. I'll just blame it on my computer then (which would be the norm at this point).

Ooops sorry about that ~ thought you'd be using Safari as you have a Mac ! Can't help you with Firefox I'm afraid. Hope you get sorted.

Could you try another browser like Chrome or Safari to see if that makes a difference?

Thanks

Well, now I remember WHY I use Firefox... I can't figure out how to back up multiple pages in Safari. But I did hang around in chat a bit. A couple people evidently tried to join me, but every time they did, I got booted. By the time I got signed back in, they had gone again. So I went back in using Firefox, and just sat there again for awhile, but my meds started kicking in and I got sleepy, so I'm off to take a nap. I'll try it again tonight (if I can get/stay connected, last night was worse than usual and I finally gave up) and see if I have any better results.
