I only just noticed that one of the standard settings in the "reply to a topic page", is now "notify of replies" checked. And it never was before.  ((:b
Which means I always forget to de-check it (if you know what I mean ).... which in turn means my mailbox gets inundated with messages saying there's been a reply to a topic I've posted on..... ((:b  (and seeing how busy this board is..... :O :O :O )

Is there a  reason why that's now the default setting - or did it just happen - somehow?
If there's a reason for it and peeps prefer it that way, I'll just teach myself not to forget to switch it off....

But I was just wondering.....

Sorry about the bulging mailbox

I just set it as default as I thought it might be easier for people. Also some members just post once or twice and we never see them again, I thought if they got notification of replies by default it may encourage them to come back more often...

Just an idea. Happy to switch it off if you like....?

I'll set up a poll on the feedback board to gather peoples opionions...

Thanks AdMick Hmmm, yes, I see your point....  

I'm not so sure about the poll - you see, people who only come in here once or twice will not find their way to the poll, and not vote for. Whereas blabbermouths with bulging boxes (please note the triple alliteration ;d ) might vote against (I wouldn't by the way, you're right, it's quite a nice idea...). So, you might get wrong statistics - no?

I'll get used to it, don't worry, just a question of habit...


Another thing I noticed, was the "stay logged in" checked as a default when you log in - isn't that a bit dangerous, especially for people with a shared computer (although I'm sure NOBODY skives from work to visit this site )?
Or am I too cottonheaded again to see the real reason?

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE make it go away!!!!!!! It's a good idea for the more elusive members but I unfortunately post on almost every topic (as you know) and I feel like I'm losing the plot. Besides, I get an email, think I've been popular just to find its a reply notification - it's quite soul destroying! :'(

Click on the notification link at the top of the page once you are logged in:

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Then you can check and update the messages you don't want to be notified abot...
