Max Characters...Arrghh!!
« on: May 29, 2006, 01:11:25 AM »
Max characters are 5500.   if you go past this figure at the moment, you will lose all your hard work as the page resets itself.  For example, if, for some reason ( ::)), you typed 5500 words and decide to put an x at the end, the page will reset itself, and you lose all 5500 words.  You just left with just the last charater, in this example, x.

Can this be fixed please, because believe me its heartbreaking when youre on a low ebb to lose an hours worth of stuff. :'(

Cheers.

Hi
I don't know if there is anything that can be done, Michael will know.

But if you are doing a long post create it in a text document first and then copy and paste it into post as a precaution.

How about writting it on Word first then break it up into manageable size to post?

Also if you loose your connection or it doesn't post correctly you have your Word doc as back up. And you can run spell check on it too.  ;)

Another point to consider is that 5500 character is a LOT to read on a pc sceen . So as a reader it is much more enjoyable to have big chunks of text spaced out. Makes it easier to grasp as well. So even if we could  post larger one it might still be a  good idea to split whatever you're saying into several posts.

sorry but don't think anything can be done..

Beneath the box you type into you will see a green "light" and the words "Max 5500 characters. Remaining characters" followed by a number..

The green light will turn red and the Max 5500 characters. Remaining characters will go to zero when you have reached or gone above this limit...
