Copying a thread
« on: November 06, 2009, 09:32:42 PM »
OK so now I need to copy the text from a very long, and getting longer, thread and apart from copy and paste every entry into a word document or 'file' 'print' -ing each page does anyone have any more efficient ideas. Thanks  :)
Drawing on my fine command of language, I said nothing...

And now with all 8 pages in the file. You should be able to open the plain text file with any word processor. M$ Word or whatever.
Might need tidying / proper proof reading but it's 99% of the collating work done i am sure. Let me know if you want it updating as the thread grows and I will try to oblige.

(If anyone really must know how I did that then here goes... I ran the webpage html (source) files through a stream editor with various string replacements defined to distill out the text we were interested in as best I could at 11pm (yawn). This I did at a GNU/Linux command line in Ubuntu :) )

YOU ARE A STAR!!!!!
Only thing is if I could be so picky :-[...is there any way of also picking up, who said it? If not I may need to edit each one to add the name/screenname of each contributor so that it becomes more personal; but you have done 99% of the work so if you cant don't worry. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!

Sorry for the over use of exclamation marks, bit excitable in my glee!

Press the print button..... it will open a new page.

Copy the text (Press ctrl and A to select all the ctrl and C to copy)

Open word or equivelant and press Ctrl and V to paste !
I started out with nothing and I still got most of it left..
