Time Zones
« on: October 31, 2010, 01:20:12 AM »
AAARGH! I give up! Its like when I was trying to learn the metric system after already having learned Imperial. I know, I know... us Yanks have it all backwards, but its just what I'm used to.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me what I should reset my time offset to now that I have moved to Arizona? I am even happy to include the web link: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, but when I try and figure it out if I have it right, I just can't tell! just give me the + or - and the number of hours for London. I'll be happy with that. Most of Arizona (including where I live) doesn't have daylight savings time, so that won't be an issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Does this help?

Time Difference Between United Kingdom and Arizona

With current daylight savings
Arizona is 7 hours behind United Kingdom

At 17:00 in United Kingdom it is 10:00 AM
in Arizona on the same day

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

So it would be -7

Thanks

Thank you for putting that in words I can understand! This stupid computer I got stuck with (my son's old Mac) doesn't grant me administrator privileges, so I can't even change the clock on the computer. Its still on Connecticut time. I keep telling myself I should be thankful for small favors (I have internet access!), but I can't download ANYTHING like helpful programs that I could use.

You're the greatest!

Hi
What you need is a system disc or another mac to boot off via firewire.
i.e. if you are running OSX tiger you insert the disc in the drive and restart pressing the C key and when it has press enter then look at the drag down menu's at the top, in the utilities drag down menu there is a reset admin password see

if you don't have the necessary disk I can send you one but I will be offline for a week as I am moving house in the morning and my broadband wont be on till the 8th of november.
it will help if you can tell me which mac you have and which operating system you are running.
To find out look at the apple menu, about this mac

I hope this helps

Mac OSX V 10.4.11

Anything beyond that, I'm clueless.

I'm usually a PC person, but this is what I have.

Thanks for your offer of help!  :-*

I finally got in touch with my son and we are talking again. He says he will try and visit this next weekend and burn me a new set of disks. If it doesn't happen, I'll message you and let you know. Thanks again for the offer!

My son says he can't find the required software to burn because this is not an "Intel" processor. Does that make sense? Can you still find the right kind of software to download? We will be tearing the closet apart to see if I managed to bring the stack of CD's with the boot disks in the next couple of days, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm pretty sure it got left in CT and my ex-landlord refused to ship my boxes (long story). Any help still appreciated!
