Scampi, my heart goes out to you and i really hope things improve for your mum and dad.Methotrexate does have side effects but thats not to say your going to get them.I opted for the weekly injection which for some reason really minimises the sickness.Unfortunatly it stopped workin for me but while it did i got lots of relief and minimal side effects.Do lots of research,it can be scarey when you see all these possible side effects but honestly it might be worth trying.I started on Humira recently but have to start Methotrexate soon too.Good luck Scampi loads of hugs and love jax xx

Hi bj,

I have a question regarding vitamin d intake and body fat
I have read several studies that have basically said that people with higher body fat content show lower 25 (OH) d status even when supplementing with relatively high vitamin d intake. The proposed reason for this phenomenon was that the excess fat cells sequester 25 (OH) d and don't allow it into the general circulation as would normally occur in a person with lower body fat if I remember correctly. If that is correct, would a person with high body fat content need to take significantly more vitamin d when on BF?
Also , I was wondering if a magnesium deficiency can manifest as a lower 25 (OH) d level than what would normally be expected for a given dose of vitamin d?
Lastly, I know that age can play a factor in how well your body is able to convert uv rays into vitamin d in the skin, but does age also affect absorption of oral vitamin d?

Thank You.

its a tough one i had a fall today too pain in my hip then my legs gave way so i ended up a heap on the ground

got picked up by a couple of co workers which they are now ribbing me for cos i am the first aider  Grin

you say you dont want or need councelling, ive been through the road of that several times before too but i do find one particular councelling helps

its not your regular run of the mill councelling where they go into family and the usual hip hop traits

this is more emotional control councelling which looks at you as a person, finding and exploring triggers as to what makes our own personal mind works and with the body too

i find it hard to explain this one as some people think its nuts  Wink which i am but in seriousness it does help

hiya

i know where your coming from  Undecided its a tough one espicially when the family needs our help too,  i am in a similar boat

its good to offload it save bottling it up

as far as mtx goes alot of people do have good helping results without impacting the lifestyle

when the aches and pains etc niggle away its natural as i have found that it does wear you down, us down.

but not forever  Smiley

If you tend to get P where you have had a cut or scratch almost straight away then I would avoid getting a Tat, otherwise I would say go for it!!  Smiley

Just wanted to say Hi to all!
Been lurking in the background via Twitter for a while and decided to join in!
I have had P since about the age of 10 and was in and out of hospital from 13-21.
Had lots of treatments, but somehow keep going back to the same old coal tar sal acid and Dithrocream methods, that dont work for long, make a mess of your clothing and sheets, but don't mean I need to be monitored for liver function etc!!
Did at one stage consider Mtx but thought it was too much hassle. I do like a drink now and then! Still fairly scabby, but only had a short break when I lived abroad, so living with it as per!
Hope I can add some useful comments and learn some new bits and bobs! Smiley

I have used Exorex and it is fine to use on cracked P it just stings like crazy!!
I would recommend a stack of cocois/sebco and like Joan Back again said wrap them up after applying a load overnight then have a deflake in the morning and apply exorex at least 3 times a day to see any results!

Good luck!
