11 years and counting

Hi there

Just thought I'd share my experience as a newbie.

My P started when i was about 14 with a small patch on my scalp/forehead.  It soon spread all over my scalp and then got a small patch on leg.  Not the greatest thing to live with as a teenage girl but ho hum....

The leg patch went away after using Dovonex but the scalp got worse.  I was lucky to have it just on my scalp until I discovered the devil called alcohol at around 17 :)

I don't know if this is a well known aggravating factor, but booze has definitely made mine more irritable.  Don't have the willpower not to drink though... oops...   ;)

Over 4 years at uni, I developed more patches on my back and elbows.  When i started work, more patches appeared on my shins and forearms.  Tried UVB but htis made it worse, much redder and itchier.

Fractured my back last summer and spent 2 months doing nothing - a perfect cure but completely unrealistic!

Have used Eumovate for the last 2 years which has helped it slightly but as with all creams, is a real pain for staining.

Am lucky enough to have been with a guy for 2 1/2 years who is amazingly supportive.  He doesn't care about the P, and is in charge of controlling me when i get the urge to scratch!

Am happy enough now living with P.  Has been part of me for over 11 years and have only recently got the confidence to show it off to my friends!  Am hoping this new found confidence will let me go out and show it off carefree to the world at large!

Fingers crossed!

Well, that's me! Having read lots of other stories, I'm looking forward to getting some group support!  It's always nice to know you're not the only one!

Take care everyone and keep smiling!

xxx :Dxxx
