Advise please on the rash
« on: September 07, 2011, 01:19:52 PM »
I noticed my daughers back the other day,her back was covered in red spots. raised , red and rough to the touch. She told me they were sore & itchy.
Put it down to the astro turf at school (she is 16) but checked again last night and they are still there, multiplying across her back, some on her throat at the front. Also, She has had knee issues for two years now. I am putting two and two together. 1st port of call,GP appointment made.  :oThe worst thing was husband identified it as psoriasis as he thought it looked flaky, she went into meltdown as she is a very vain teenager,  I am soo very worried for her.
I looked at pictures of gutterate which looks like her back. I only have slight P at elbows, nail psoriasis, and psA.  My father was 95% covered from age 4. How often Is our children affected ?    It may not be but I have a feeling, will need to wait and see what doc says.  I just needed to post.

Have you tried Dermacura products?  I had a large red itchy patch of dry skin on the back of my leg.  I've been using the Dermacura Rejuvaderm cream for about 5 weeks now, in less than 7 days the cream had relieved the urge to itch - 2 weeks later and the red patch of dry skin has gone.  I'm still using the cream but I'm only applying it once a day now.

hi, Newshaz

theres around 30% chance  in families , it can even miss generations
10% if 1parent 50% if both have p
ask the GP to take a sellotape scrape to help  confirm their diagnoses
! even a mouth swab to see if higher risk for pa

And the severity can vary. My son has P on a light scale. It may turn into severe later on who knows. :) :)

Thanks everyone for replying.  I had a long talk with her last night and told her we will take wee steps at a time, and if it's confirmed, wear it with pride as she will not be alone in this world.  And i'll introduce her to PHO.  waiting on 20th now.
Sharon.

If it is p, she'll have this great resouce to help her out. Oh how I wish this place existed when I was growing up. I knew no-one with p but my Mum, and what did she know?  ::) Fingers crossed for you both.

Well that's the appointment over with the GP, still trying to get my head around everything.
The upper respiratory problems are not caused by a virus or bacteria, not strep throat -  suspected exercise induced asthma - was given an inhalor to use over the next 10 days. appt. put on for 30th to follow up.
The rash is definately  Guttate Psoriasis, the doc told me that he would write to the dermatology nurse, who actually visits my surgery every 2 weeks  :o!, to review and confirm and come up with a medical  plan for her. He also asked about joint pains, told him that her knees have been sore and painful for about two years now, she does running, cross country in the winter, he said that we would follow on with that after the appointment with the derm nurse. Talk about snowballing ! As we were leaving the room he shouted after my daughter, dont worry we'll get you all sorted out with some meds!  She's only 16, I now have her three sisters  asking me if this will happen to them.  I'm going to have to be strong for her. boy I'm depressed, somehow I feel responsible but I suppose this is all fairly natural, sorry just have to get it out. She would be mortified if she read this.

I can only imagine how you are feeling as a parent but have to say.....It is not your fault! You did not choose this for your daughter any more than you chose it for yourself!

It does sound like you have a good G.P. which is half the battle with P. Fingers crossed that they stay on top of your daughters treatment.

Hugs xx

Thanks. Review with Gp on Froiday, not sure of dermy nurse, will follow that up. rash is multiplying and ive not to put my cream  on it so it is seen at its worse by the dermy nurse. Sharon
