Hello was wondering if anyone can shed any light on treatment for this,my daughter is only 8 and had this since last year in june trying all different remedies fron creams steroids etc,as you can imagine i been worrying for her,its on her face, body legs ears scalp feet and hands everywhere to be honest doctor just referred me to our local hospital and was diagnosed with cronic plaque psorisis, she is getting uv light therapy.will this help and make it stay away, they dont say to much really,i have heard its very good can clear ans stay away for a long time or clear and come back worse is that just due to treatment stopping and your cells start to over react again.she is allowed it for 6 weeks 3 times a week if doesnt help go on to stronger drugs which they prefer not to give to children and to be honest i wouldnt like that for her.all i want to know if anyone has been in situation when you were younger and if it cleared or what i should expect.her face looks better a little but not any were on body yet but keeps getting more thanks everyone please let me know and give me advice regards irene

Hi Irene,

I have had chronic plaque psoriasis for about 14 years, so I hope that I can offer some advice. However, I am a lot older than 8 years!

From what you say about the extent of your daughter's coverage, it sounds like topical treatments, such as creams and steroids are no longer an option, so UV treatment (is it NBUVB?) is the next logical step, although this will obviously not help with her scalp.

She should get some remission from the UV treatment, but for how long is anyone's guess. What you can do to help is make sure that she is regularly moisturised, and not just on the P but everywhere, but try to avoid paraffin based products before light treatment because they can be reflective and therefore negate some of the benefit of the light treatment.

If you have any specific questions, then just ask and I am pretty sure that someone will answer.
