Finnished UVB treatment
« on: June 01, 2009, 01:34:51 PM »
Hi guys from Gal. I haven't been on for a couple of weeks. I had my last UVB treatment on Friday, May 22nd. I had very little hope of it working as I saw no improvement for quite a while, then some minor improvements as my treatment time increased. With the last 4 (around 3.5 mins) I burnt quite badly and each time it flared up quite bad, but when it came around to having the next treatment my nurse didn't seem too worried and carried on. After my last treatment we went off for a week to our caravan in Devon. Day by day I saw an improvement in my P. If was fading at last, then my hands cleared and also most of the P on my arms. By the Sunday following my last UVB I was in shorts and vest on the beach. I am now probably 80-85% clear, from 90% coverage. I still have some markings where the P was really bad but I think it will fade. And there are a few spots on my legs still, but I'me getting them out whenever I can. I just wanted to give a bit of encouragement to any of you who may be having UVB or will be soon. There is hope of some remmission. I know it's not a cure, but it's just so good to have a bit of respite from covering up all the time and feeling uncomfortable and ashamed of my body. I feel really confident, and I am going to the gym shortly, wearing a vest top ( have worn long sleeves until now), can't wait to show the other girls there, they have been very supportive. Good luck to all of you with your various treatments. I have had lots of support and tips from many of you and appreciate the opportunity to share my up's and down's with you all  :-* :-* :-*

Hi John boy, I guess my hospital are not that up front in giving out that sort of info. I have never been told this in the 40 years I have been a sufferer of P. The last 2 years has been the worst ever. I couldn't even have the initial test patch as the couln'd find a clear area. I will ask the question when I next see my derm. What does PASI stand for ? I feel quite ignorant about this !

Thanks for that John boy. I have seen posters on the treatment room wall but thought it was just treatment indications for the nurses. If they did do one I wasn't made aware, but if it's on my records I will find out next appointment. I would have been probably high on the coverage score (very few clear patches anywhere), but quite low on the severity as mine was flat and red with very little scaling. My derm said that was due to long term use of the dreaded Dovobet. Thanks again John boy.
