i'm still amazed how many have no idea what P is.


how many here have told friends/work colleagues etc that they have PSORIASIS ,
with the normal reply of  'WHAT ? OF THE LIVER ?

i get a laugh out of it now

amazing what a few days of coming on here has done for me,

Brenton, I have had the comment about cirrosis (spelling not my strong point!) more than once with a look of horror! only to explain and then get a look of concern and sometimes equal horror that I have  some kind of grim plague!

really looking forward to being part of the family here and catching up with you all and how you are getting on, I'm really passionate about a non drug therapy approach  as I've used steriod creams in the past and for me  they have stunning initial results only to damage your skin and for me personally the p comes back with force when you stop them ( I appreciate that my psoriasis is not severe and some of us need some really strong medication if our p is really bad)
so much info on here about diet and general  wellbeing
where  have i been for so long?!

Hello - I have only just seen this.  As everyone else has said, most of us have felt like you at some point in our lives, we all have different experiences, but the bit that caught my eye with your post is that your friends have children - I have suffered severe P since I was 7 - but I met my husband when I was 16 and scabby - fell head of heels and we have been married for 31 years next week.  We have 4 children and now 4 grandchildren.
Most of the time it is bearable, but we do miss out on things - I can never wear short sleeves, never learned to swim and a million other ' normal' things - What keeps me going is thinking about what I do have in my life, not what I don't have or can't do.
PHO is a good place to air your feelings and also learn about treatments and coping startegies - you can have a laugh at time too

Hi I feel exactly the same for year's Ive felt like that. reading peoples posts I have felt exactly the same as them at somtimes in my life.

Hi Hels  I just want to agree with Joan Istared with P when I was 10 I'm now 44, met my husband when I was 21 been married 19 years
this year. I've got 2 teenagers (agh stress). I've had my ups and downs with p. But I always think of the good things I've got. My p is no where as bad as some people have it, but when it's worse for me I keep thinking of all the good things in life.
I am sure you will meet someone one day and personality is a good attractor you could be the best looking person, but be a horrible person.  You sound really nice keep smiling I know it's hard somtimes but I'm sure you'll be ok.

I've just read some of the new posts on here and as a someone who has had psoriasis for the around 14 years i feel like I've found a home...for too long I have tried to "cope" and get on with it, letting it slowly destroy my confidence and any chance of relationships... I have pushed people away and buried my head for so long that it started to feel like the norm... until I realise how much I'm missing out on.. and I don't know what to do...  my biggest downfall is not wanting to feel like a burden or a moaner which i know is v. self destructive. I'm great at giving advice bit dreadful at taking it. Does anyone else have the guilt I  feel that it's somehow myfault and I'm missing something - my friends are married with lovely children and I'm wondering if that is ever going to happen. not every day is bad.. I'm sure lots of people here relate to this.... in tears but glad to have found a voice.....

She has never said it but I'm sure that my ex-girlfriend ended the relationship because she thought I looked ugly because of my P, thankfully for me I am a little self centred and don't let things like that bother me; her loss.

I'm sure that you'll find someone that is very understanding; maybe a P sufferer themselves.

thanks for your support, you are all  so right!!  since posting last week I have honestly never felt as positive as I do now, and having met such a  great group of like minds a weight has truly been lifted,

As is sometimes the way something else has happened this week that has sent the stress levels soaring....however I now  have somewhere to go and vent my thoughts..

will post a picture on here when I get my courage up!
