Hello... I'm new and about to start MTX!
« on: February 04, 2009, 04:55:01 PM »
Hi All

I am new to all this and want to introduce myself.

I'm Mandy, 27 years old and have a 1year old Daughter.

My history…

I was diagnosed with P at the age of 11, I was lucky in the fact that with the help of creams in was under control so I just carried on has normal. Then when I was about 18 I started to get incredible pain in my toes. I was told by my G.P that there was nothing wrong with me. I finally got diagnosed with P.A at 19 was put on sulfazaline and it more or less went.

I came off the sulfasalazine to have a baby at 24, I had no P.A while pregnant and very little P. 1-2 hours after giving birth it was back.

I have it in most of my joints,( I wish I was joking )  Neck, Spine, Chest bone, Hands, Hips, Shoulders, knees, Elbows and Feet ( I am sure there are some I have missed). Some are worse than others. I find life very painful

I am currently on 6 sulfasalazine  , Mobic and 8 pain killers and I am still no better. I am going to see my consultant tomorrow to talk about starting MTX! Which I am so scared about!

Well that's me

Mandy .

Hi All

Thanks for your warm welcome  :)

Unfortunately I didn't make it to see my cosultant yesterday due to the snow  :( I had really worked myself up for the appointment, it had taken me a long time to come to terms with the fact that I need to be on the same drugs that my 60 year old dad is on! Silly I know.... I just want it sorted know.

Luckily I have private health care and I only have to wait 2 weeks until I can see him again :)

xx

Hello Mandy!

Welcome!

I have been on MXT since may 09, for me, didn't work, apart from making me feel very sick, with sore throat, chest pain, my skin is still the same. I am due to see my dermatologist now in august, and I hope I can try Enbrel, as I have tried so many treatments by now.

I wish you good luck! You are not alone, there are always people worse than you.
