Hello - I'm Peppercat - I'm New!

I'm not even sure I'm posting this in the right place!

I'm female - 63  - and have had P all my life. It has never been a real problem - apart from one badly discoloured finger nail, I've only ever had small scaley patches on elbows or scalp which came and went.

However, this summer I began to notice discolouration on my fingernails and toenails and raised growth. Then my feet began to be sore and on investigation - how often do you look at the soles of your feet? - I had P all over them.  It was bad. Some on my palms but the worst was the feet.

Since August I have been using Exorex Lotion twice a day and Exorex Moisturising Cream three times a day. My P has almost disappeared - my hand and esp. my feet do get hot & tired - but that's OK - it's my fingernails which are disgusting to look at! Some of the nails have broken off half way down - looks like I've been over-biting!

Any ideas, please? Will I just have to wait for them to grow out?

Also, the only reason that I can think of for this outbreak is that our cats had fleas. My husband got bitten badly - I didn't think I'd been bitten at all!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Peppercat,

My nails were a disaster for ten years, until I was prescribed with Fumaderm. However, this is one of the "last resort" treatments.

Anyway, go and see your doctor and get a referral  to a dermatologist ASAP.

I forgot to mention: try soaking you nails in olive oil. That sometimes helps......

                          My fingernails and toenails remain a site they have been like this for as long as I can remember there one of last parts of the body to repair even when you consider how quick your nails can grow .. and I can so feel for you. my p causes my nails  to lift way off the cuteicals and just the slightest  knock can easy snap the nail .. I use vitamins and try keep them as short as I can. oil can sometimes make your nails very soft it won't remove pits or discolouration. It will make them shine... Hope this is a help
