hello there, my battle with the beast.
« on: December 06, 2011, 11:18:42 AM »
hi there. I'm almost 40  ::) and i've had psoriasis since i was 16. Started off on my forehead and pretty much covered the rest of me within a week. I've been in and out of hospital, tried almost every topical treatment going. I've had PUVA with fantastic success at first but not so much the 2nd time around. I've tried acitretin but had to come off, been on mtx but the side effects wiped me out. I start cyclo today. I've noticed my skin has become ulcerated in places which is ruddy painful. I try not to let it rule my life but its hard when your skin is falling off  ;D ::)

Oh my. I am with you on that.

I had forgotten how bad it gets. I am having to force myself to carry on with my daily life. Everywhere is sore but my hands are agony.

I am hoping being on this forum will help with my confidence as well as catching up on current treatment. I feel so isolated, I wish there was a support group near so I could chat face to face.

Wishing you well
Love
KP

hi KP

God isnt it awkward when hands flare! Mine have just started to behave again after a flare and you dont realise how much you use yr hands til they get so raw you wanna chop em off!!!

Sorry you feel so isolated. I too wish there were support groups locally to me, i live in South Wales. But you know that fellow members, including myself although i'm a mere newbie ;D will be more than happy i'm sure to listen to yr worries.

take care xxx

Thanks Bubbles, the support of an online forum is invaluable. It does help that folk here 'get it'

It doesnt matter how long you've had P, you're going through the same as the rest of us.  I was 16 when it first started...i said the fatal words to my mother ' hey mum i'm halfway through my teens almost and i havent had a spot...'

me and my big mouth!  ::) ;)

How are you doin anyway? Must've been horrible when you first got diagnosed.
