Hey, Newbie!
« on: January 24, 2012, 09:56:08 PM »
Hey all, newbie here, just introducing myself. I am 25 years old, from Kilmarnock in Scotland. I have had psoriasis since I turned 16 years old, was in hospital with it once when basically 90% of my body was covered in it. I have suffered it on and off since then but fell pregnant with my first baby last year and it calmed it down, since having my son it has flared up bad again, its big patches on my arms and legs, loads of small patches, big round patches on my knee's, big patches under my breasts and under arms, couple of spots have appeared on my back now and have a little on my face, in my ears and behind my ears, also my scalp is covered in it and other areas too. Extremely itchy and scaley. Very embarrassing walking around with what looks like snow in my hair, etc. People looking at you as if there is something disgusting on you.

I was at the consultant yesterday as i have been having symptoms of psoriatic arthritis but unsure if it could be rheumatoid arthrits, had to do some excersises for him and bloods and x-rays taken. He is wanting to start me onSulfasalazine and methotrexate tablets along with all my different creams. He has recommended that with me saying I would like another child at somepoint to speak to my partner as now would be the right time as to come off and on the medication is not ideal. so at 25 i have a lot of decisions to make lol. Its quite scary. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself lol

Hi Marianne

Welcome along and so sorry your suffering and hope you can get some answers on the PA and find something that helps clear your Psoriasis.

I have guttate pretty wide spread, but by far its the patches on my face, around my nose and eyes and hands that bother me the most as I find it near impossible to not think about it being seen  :-[ especially in the winter now as it has gone a lovely dark purple colour!!

Take care

Jamie

Its normal for p to get better during pregnancy. Its also normal for it to come back after giving birth. It all to do with the hormones. I have had a similar experience twice so I understand how you feel!
Good luck!

HI Marieanne,

Welcome to the forum. How did you hear of this forum ?

The people on here are wonderful. Even if you just want to rant come on and rant, you will not be judged. This forum is a great place for information or to ask questions when your not sure, etc.
I cannot advise on creams etc, but I know someone will be along shorly with their experience.

(I am from Saltcoats. I  have Psoriatic Arthritis, nail psoriasis, fibryalgia.)

By the way, I found the pink text difficult to read, I must be needing new glasses LOL.
Sharon.
