Heya Everyone
« on: April 21, 2004, 08:37:01 AM »
Just thought I'd say hi to everyone \:D/ i'm another newbie!

Been having a read at some of the threads, got alot of really helpful and good advice!
I've been feeling really down of late and with exams coming up i am really stressed,  my P doesnt seem to be getting any better tho i dont have it everywhere just little bits its like no matter what i do i just wont budge!I tried the chinese med as i was told it could help and it will go away within weeks! that was aloada rubbish! £55 for it just sting like hell! my G.P has tried me on a couple of different creams but they dont help either! sunbeds help a little but i get really dizzy after a couple of mins  ??? Ive heard about these injections and possibly gonna ask my G.P about them, have anyone of you tried them and do you know if they work??

Oh and to make things worse Ive got a big party in london this weekend and all my mates want me to wear a skirt but my legs have little spots of P everywhere! just getting me down even more that i cant wear what i want  also have a little bit on my cheek anyone know of any good make up to use?...

*rant over*  :-*

Hi Noodles.

Your story sounds familiar , GP tries creams , you try something you have heard about, you try sunbeds in a tanning parlour........have you tried to see a dermatologist ??
If you have been reading some of the threads , you will understand that everyone is different , and that standard "by the book" treatments in the average GP's list of possibles doesn't always work.

Try to get a derm appointment , they are specialists, they will tailor a program for you.

Good luck  ;D

Welcome Noodles

I found it hard when I was younger and didn't want to wear skirts...even when it was a really hot summer's day but now as i've got older it doesn't bother be as much.  I do know how you feel.
If you don't feel that your GP is helping you that much and they have tried all they can ask them to refer to you a derm.

Best of Luck and enjoy your party!!

Take Care

Hi Noodles

welcome from me too.

Stress certainly does seem to have a major effect on p...and exam stress can be a biggie :-/

I would definately try to get to see a derm and explore the options that are open to you...Gps simply don't, usually, have the training to deal with p when it becomes more than a bit of dry skin.

Hi noodles and welcome.

Agree with everyone else..try and get get referred to a derm via the GP.

As for the injections...you are probably thinking about alefacept or raptiva. Neither of these have a license in UK yet and won't be around for another year at least  :-/

Take a good look around the boards and look forward to your posts.

Hi noodles,

welcome to the board :)

A derm referral surely sounds like a good idea.
For your current skirt problem, there are a few things I could think of.

I know that some american psoriasis foundation made a leaflet on cover up, but I have never tried it and don't know how it works and what it costs.

Did not find the exact link, but this one could also be helpful to you:

If I want to hide something on my legs I sometimes get down to wearing a bit thicker tights. not as sexy as nylons or nothing ::) - but at least sometimes making me feel a whole lot more comfortable (you might still get away with blaming it on the weathe´r lol ,D)

sheepful :)
