I am 51 years old and I have had psoriasis since I was 3 years old. I have been through some horrendous flare ups. During childhood I was treated as an inpatient on many occasions, an awful experience for a young child. I also had a lot of outpatient treatment, also not a happy time.

At one point I was 95% covered. That was in the late 1970s. I was one of the first to test the PUVA treatment. It had an amazing result. I was so pleased.

Over the years since then I have managed the condition. During the pregnancies of 2 children I was completely clear.

Now as I approach menopause I am having one of my worst flare ups. Hands, arms, legs, groin, under breasts and scalp.

I have post traumatic stress disorder following a serious car crash. I am eventually managing my symptoms but this flare up is testing my sanity.

I think I've rambled enough, I am upset even writing this.

I've been reading other posts. I wondered if anyone is in Shropshire. It would be great to have some support.

Thanks Pie, it was nice to get a friendly response. I saw my GP a couple of weeks ago and she prescribed, Mometasone and Betamethasone. Neither have helped and my P is spreading daily. I now have difficulty movin/bending my hands. It is all so painful. I'd forgotten it was this painful and itchy.  I have also started using my sunbed again.

How did I deal with this as a young child.  No wonder I was emotionally screwed.

I have tried to see my GP again but I can't get an appointment until next week. I will ask to be referred to a dermatologist.

I suppose one of my problems is that I have been out of treatment for so long that I don't know what to try anymore or ask for.

agree...best to get a proper treatment path with derm if conventional
meds are the path you wish to follow.
