My girlfriend of nine years suffers from PS and has recently just come off mtx treatment which worked well in the beginnng but she had to come of it as the results from blood tests were showing that there was too high a risk of liver damage.  Coming off this treatment has really flared her up that has resulted her breaking into floods of tears that I cannot seem to help with.  It always seems worse for her in the summer because of nor being able to wear the clothes she wants to wear. Suppose I am really looking for ways in which to help and support the woman I love.  After supporting her for such a long time and going through every treatment that is available I am finding it hard to keep the faith for a cure   This week we have both been crying a lot as we are both sick and tired of this condition and really miss the closeness we had before she developed PS.    :'(

Hi Paul

What a cool post....its so good to read of the concern you have for your partner....

Why don't you get her to have a read of the site ...ask questions of her own and read about the experience of others here.  There are plenty here that have been on or are on mtx and other oral meds and some have also gone thru the flare up that follows coming off.  And we all know how stressful and upsetting the whole thing is.  There is a great thread on the Recreation Room about psoriasis and relationships that you might both want to read...

good to have you along

Guy  ;)

Luckily for me,my P didn't start until I was 18.It must be terrible for your daughter,(and all kids who suffer from P)especially as other children can be so cruel to kids who are different.

I'm new too and already started on different stuff to combat the p thanks to all of the different posts.  Am really impressed with how helpful everone is and am not feeling as isolated as i was - thanks everyone!

Feel really bad for your daughter, I've had it since I was seven but think I was quite lucky at school, kids seemed to ignore the fact that i was covered in it.  Mind you, having p from such a young age you grow up with it and get used to it. My friend recently broke out in p at the age of 23 and she has found it really hard to cope with - plus she lives in the U.S. and doesn't have health insurance... I digress.....

Anyway, best of luck.

p.s. exorex has worked really well for me in the past - fingers crossed

HI Karen,

glad you found this site, welcome from me too :)
There are a lot of other mothers on here trying to find help for their children. So hopefully you both will get excellent info and good support :)
