hi im new. ot sure if im even doing this right lol
« on: September 01, 2011, 11:18:57 PM »
Hi im 26 and was told by my GP i had psoriatic arthritis 3 years ago. My GP has tried me on a few things ie antidepressants, tramadol pain killers, codeine phosphates and paracetamol and now im on a different anti inflammatory (diclofenac) I have had blood tests done and my Gp has told me my imflammation aint bad enough to be referred to a specialist, and they will only give me what she has already prescribed to me. The pain is getting worse and i have 3 kids and my youngest really keeps me on my toes and somedays i find it really hard. My GP knows all this but dont think she is that bothered to be honest. Just dont know what to do anymore and i hate the thought of going back to see my GP AGAIN!! 3 years of going she must be sick of the sight of me. How bad do you have to be to be referred to someone who specialises in arthritis?? And the way i think is what if there is a drug they can give me that can make it go away for a while even if its just a week!!! Anything is better than it is now.

hi, Terri & Welcome

? what blood tests where run does your gp specialise in arthrittis
early preventve meds is a must if pa is suspect

you can show normal esr/crp and still have a bad sero-neg arthrittis=pa

under the patients charter your intiled to see a consultant to confirm your diagnoses

theres loads of info on the pa board well worth a search

ask your gp to refer you, take some 1 with you to back you up ,point out how long they have treated you with out a referal
they can take repeated blood tests like full ana/thyoid/ccp/hlab-27/nail clippings etc, to help speed up the consultants diagnoses

Hello and welcome to the forum. You shouldn't feel guilty hope going to see your GP, you pay your taxes so are entitled to go as often as you need. See if you can get referred to a specialist, they will be best placed to offer treatments that will help you.

Hi  I suffer with pa in my hands and feet . Your gp needs to refur u .. your dermatoigist can get xrays taken .. sometimes it may not show on them but its a start in the right direction don't let your gp phob you off ..  there not called a GP for nothing there knowledge is only general on all health matters ... It a consultant in that field who now the score and will advice in the best course of treat ment hope this helps and stay strong and god bless
