I'm here on behalf of my beautiful girlfriend.
« on: October 07, 2011, 06:50:37 PM »
Hey guys, my name is Jack.

About 3 weeks ago my girlfriend called me into the bathroom to check some red, little oval-shaped spots on her chest. I didn't know what it was but suggested it could be a heat rash as she was in the bath. The next day she showed me that the spots had multiplied and were moving outwards from her chest to her belly and some starting on her back. It looked like chicken pox. The spots became redder and larger about the size of a stretched 5 pence piece. The spots merged with eachother and have formed patches surrounded by dry flaky skin. As of tonight, the rash covers 60% her chest and back and there are little spots on her neck, face and thighs.

My girlfriend has seen the doctor three times assuming it was an alergic reaction at first. Then they thought it was a stress rash and today they have refferred her to a dermatologist suspecting psoriasis.

My girlfriend is a beautiful person, inside and out and I will love her and fancy the pants off her regardless but I'm really concerned with how she will cope if this gets worse and she loses her confidence in life. She's not vain. She doesn't want to be recognised as the most beautiful person. She just wants to be normal. But to be abnormal (and I am using that word very delicately here) would really hurt her feelings; and it is this that bothers me. I can't stand to see people upset.

From what I've described, does this sound like psoriasis to you?

PS. I think you're all great people for creating a community to help others. If only you could rule the world...

Hi

It does sound like it  :(

Great that you have come on here for advice, i hope you can persuade her to join up so she can fire any questions she has at us  :)

Hopefully once she sees the dermatologist they will suggest some light treatment for her which may help, usually uvb a couple of times a week at the hospital.  If she is prescribed Dovobet from the doc pls go easy with it, doing a search on here will show up reasons why.
Lots of moisturiser is important, morning and night - doc can prescribe if not already.

You may find she will not want to be so sociable and will feel she wants to cover herself and feels self conscious. Only thing you can do is reassure her it makes no difference to you and that you are sticking around and be the same with her as you are now so as not to make it a big thing.  My boyfriend is very understanding, especially when i am between treatments, like at the moment but i have pushed him away so many times he no longer tries
there are lots of treatments now that can push it into remission so there is light at the end of the tunnel  :)

Thank you for the warm welcome, guys.

From what I've seen online and the info on this site I've pretty much accepted that it's P. I've told her that we should expect the worse and anything less is a bonus. I've also made it abundantly clear that I literally don't care about the physical. She's still everything to me no matter what.

Once P has been confirmed I'll tell her about this site. She'll like it.

I wanted to ask about the lack of rash on her arms. Isn't this one of the first places P will attack? Also I counted just 4 spots on her legs. It all seems to be located on her torso. Is this normal for a P sufferer?
