I'm new!
« on: June 25, 2008, 08:43:44 PM »
 ;D  Hellooo

MY name is Kim, Im 21 from Manchester UK.  I have suffered with P ever since I noticed a weird rash on my neck which was hard (tough) skin and very red and bumpy.  This happened when I was 16 and stretched from my right to left shoulder.  I didnt know it was P at the time but used Sudocrem and it went.  Didnt go to the docs.  This flared up when I started my GCSE's.  I was a size 16 - I'm 6'1 so was rather in proportion for my height.

I then was P clear for at least 2 years.  I then started working and due to the pressure and demands of the job, I put on a lot of weight and my P came back on my elbows only.  It was manageable back then and doc prescribed dobovet and diprobase.

I then started getting worse, and the ballooned to a size 28 bottom, size 24/26 top.  bearing in mind my height, i looked rather chubby as opposed to obease.

I am now 21, suffering still on my elbows.  I have a patch in the same place on each hand.  I have sore skin where my engagement ring is.  I have a bad patch on my left knee.  I ave odd spots on back, tummy and legs, all of which i would be more than happy having, if the big bits on my elbows and knee went.  my scalp is sore and scaley.

I use t-gel on my head which soothes it.  I use diprobase, aqueous cream, vaseline intensive care extra dry, hemp, johnsons baby, honey stuff, take multi vitamins and try and get on sun bed.  Last time I went on sunbed, I was so sore, my elbows were in bandages.  I think i over did it and plan to go back on now my skin isnt as sore, only for 6 mins at a time.

I am going to go back to the DR, as all these natural creams, i.e.non-drug enduced, are not working.  they are a great moisturisor and makes the plaques come off, but its a repetative process, which hasnt worked.

I am at my lowest i have been.

i went to turkey last year and  my p went completely.  i am going again at end of aug and need to get sorted.  im dreading my bikini :-(

Hello Kim and Welcome to PHO.  :)

Sorry to hear you're feeling so down.

If you've tried all the lotions and potions your G.P has prescribed you could ask for a referral to see a Dermatologist.

I hope you're able to enjoy your holiday in August. xx

Hi Kim,

I am still a newbie to this Forum, but you will find that everyone here is very supportive of each other, and you will be made to feel more than welcome.

Hi Kim, I'm sorry you are worrying - it's not easy. I think wearing a bikini on beach would be so cool- I can't think of anything more lovely than lying in the sun or swimming in a beautiful blue sea but don't forget a bikini is not a prerequisite for a fun relaxing holiday.

I went camping last year for 12 days and tyhe P as well as my other symptons cleared up. Was it the good company and sun, the outdoor lifestyle, a change of scene or a stress free time? I don't know, but I'm thinking of relocating to the garden!    :)

I can't welcome you cos I'm new too but I wish you all the best and I so hope you can stop worrying.  Becky
