I'm almost 25 now. I've had psoriasis for as long as I can remember, and PA for about 7 years. The psoriasis was always especially bad around my nose, and on my knees and elbows. When I was a kid, they were constantly either red or white, and often cracked and bleeding.
The area around my nose has pretty much always stayed slightly inflamed. However, for some reason, I haven't had any plaques on my knees or elbows for a few years (at least 4). I cannot explain it, as I have not had any formal treatment since childhood.
But, alas! it has returned. My knees, particularly my left, started itching about 2 months ago, then they started turning red, and now we're back to white, cracked, and bleeding a bit. The worst part about it, aside from the discomfort, is that my boyfriend thinks its gross. It's not a very bad case at the moment, only a small patch (about 3"X4") on eash knee, but he's been making fun of me about it, alluding to "carpet burn" and other such innuendo when I wear shorts. Ah, well. It could be worse. It could have showed up on my elbows, too! *knocks on wood*
My poor sister, she's struggled with P on her scalp for about 10 years. She can't wear black shirts, she's always itching, and her bathroom is always stocked with coal-tars and flaxseed oils. She's spent thousands on doctor visits and prescriptions, but to little-to-no avail. Neither of our parents ever had any symptoms of P, but we've both had it our entire lives, though I must say I've been luckier then she has.
Well, maybe that's not true. She hasn't got the PA. THAT STUFF SUCKS. Sausage finger looks horrible, and I often wake up in the morning to red, hot, swollen fingers that remain uncomfortable for most of the day. It's not every day, thank goodness, but at least once a week or so, I have to fight to get my ring off to try and alleviate the pain. Being a waitress doesn't help either, especially when it affects my toes on a busy Sunday morning.
Well, there's my psoraisis story. It's not unbearable by any means, but the arthritis part sucks, and I'm not looking forward to dealing with these new inflammations on my knees.
Thanks for listening to me whine...I'm done now, I promise.

Hello to you!
