manuka honey and omega 3
« on: December 10, 2011, 04:17:31 PM »
Hi  52 years old and only had psoriasis for a few weeks.  my mum has psoriatic arthritis since she was 56 and i do feel it is an inherited gene.  most of my mums body is covered in it including her scalp.   mine started as a small spot on my chest and then they started on my legs.  i watched the food hospital on channel 4 and started to take high strength omega 3 capsules and try to stay away from foods which irritate it.  got some dovobex from the doc which did absolutely nothing in the two weeks i was using it and in fact it is worse.  i had been reading about taking and rubbing on manuka honey which needs to be 25+ UMF.  I have been using it for three days and the psoriasis has already started to fade - i cant believe it - it is also helping my IBS.  I will let you all know how i get on in a couple of weeks.  holland and barratt have 3 for 2 offer on at the moment and my mother will be bringing more back from new zealand from her holiday there.  the maori people have been using it for centuries for its antiseptic properties.  there is advice saying you should treat the condition from the inside out so i am going to give it a go.

AndyPandy99, will you give it a rest with the clary sage oil, already?  Anyone would think you were selling the stuff.  And do go and find a T-shirt.  I am worried that all the clary sage in the world won't help when the hypothermia kicks in.

Welcome along and good luck Mrs R!

I've just started using manuka honey in my morning cerial. Might rub a bit on the Psoriasis on my hands and face, but a bit scared I'll be attacked by bee's on the way to work!!

Have tried the Manuka honey from H&B. Done nothing for my P but helped indigestion. Orrible sticky stuff if u intend to use it externally.

Interstingly, I found H&B sold 2 different brands.

One said to take 3 teaspoons daily while the other said to take 3 tablespoons daily. If u take the 3tbsp's daily it becomes an expaensive habit!

Hi all jumping in here , alot of media coverage if you like on manuka and its properties have all been proven to work .As a beekeeper i have a fair bit of knowledge on honey and most honey sold in UK is produced in non EU countries ,mainly Australia..The problem comes from when leaving the hive to us buying it , in Australia its moved in drums for weeks on end and heating while in transit to almost boiling point thus destroying its beneficial enzymes ..The same as clear honeys which are sold , the honeys boiled so stays clear but resulting in useless honey..If untouched from hive to jar it sets .My point being if you can buy local honey then try that , nectar from t- tree flowers ( manuka ) or local flowers on grass verges or back gardens are not greatly different , the magic comes from how the bees treat it..Much cheaper , you know where its from and if you have hayfever your basically going to ease the symptoms if you use local honey  ;D
