my history with p
« on: January 11, 2003, 08:18:36 PM »
hi, ive had p since the age of 17, it took me a year to be diagnosed, the gp told me that it was an old scar that would heal on its own at first and then after 6 months it was still there, he told it was eczema. saw another gp and was diagnosed with p.

A year after being diagnosed my p, i was covered head to toe. i was gettin through a 120g tube of dovenex a week. At one point i felt like a walkin chemist. i was put on steroid creams moisturising creams but these didnt work.  Finally went to see a derm who sent me to have uv treatment, which was brillant!!!!! but I did get funny looks from others about wearing sunglasses in the middle of winter, but hey who cares! and the sun tan i got was great! but the downside was that it burnt areas of my face, which became very dry and sore. But the treatment worked!!!!!!

I was clear for a year, and then got a few patches which cleared quite easily. At the moment, i've got some patches on my legs and arms, which are taking forever to clear. However, my scalp is completely covered. Its drivin me insane its  so itchy and the polytar shampoo i use doesnt seem to work anymore!!! has anyone got any ideas that could help me, i've tried betnovate, it worked but its come but even worse since!!!

When i was first diagnosed with p, was was so self conscious about it that i would always wear trousers or long skirts but now i dont care if people stare then fine i know what the red marks are and so do the people that matter to me , plus in the summer it helps the p.  I remember when i first got p my friends would ask me what it was, a couple even asked me if i burnt myself with a fag, but i explained to them what p was and they have been fine.

Hi Amy

Welcome to the forum  :D

My scalp has been pretty bad lately too, I tried T-Gel but it wasn't any use, but I think it depends on the individual, other have found it helpful have a look at the link below.  I'm using Alphosyl just now and it seem to be helping.

Anyway, hope this is the first of many post.
