My successful battle with Psoriasis
« on: September 13, 2002, 12:32:04 PM »
I have suffered for nearly 30 years. it started when i was 13/14. It was everywhere- my chest, back, legs , arms, in the ears and scalp and also on my forehead which was looking very ugly indeed.I stopped all the steroid creams and coal tar preparations once i understood what steroids do to us.  Steroids play a big part in suppressing the immune system. The immune system is so immensely important for all aspects of our life.  I have taken a holistic view of my psoriasis for the last 3- 4 years and have seen a dramatic improvement:
1. I looked at my diet and had a food intolerance test done. I refrained from the foods that were causing a stress to my body.  This will be different for different individuals.
2. I started supplementing with Vit C, a good multivit + multimineral, Vit E, good vegetable sources of essential fatty acids- Linseed oil and borage oil and zinc.
3. I also use a vegetable based cream also rich in essential fatty acids.
4. Reduced a bit of my work load when it was really bad.
5. Alkaline baths - about 2-3 times a week.

I am nearly free of most of my psoriasis. A lot more confident and most of my aches and pains have also disappeared. A feel a new person. :)

I really believe that what you are saying is true...but I am lazy and just don't have the will power to be so healthy (not that I am really terrible!).

Hmmm, could the alkaline baths be salt baths (have no idea if salt is alkaline, but vinegar is deffo acidic and you wouldn't want 2 acidics on your chips, would you?)  ;D

Jayashree

Just read your history and really glad that your approach is working for you - whenever I try to psyche myself up to change my life style – just can’t seem to do it - I end up getting more stressed and more P pops up... but really wish I could persevere - just not got the will power to go that far......... [glb]yet[/glb]

I am however going to try your alkaline baths - I use the full range of dead sea products and really think the sea salt in my bath has a soothing and calming effect on my skin.... thanks for the info

I don't think I will have a patch free Xmas - I get to stressed out but it's all part of Xmas for me - I love it with the kids .... hope you have a good time wherever you are

I am glad that you have found something that helps you.
I think I am like SJ .. a little too lazy to try and be that healthy.

I dont know about being patch free for xmas but i will aim at having an itch free day
happy holidays
