Natural remedies
« on: April 15, 2004, 11:05:26 AM »
Hi! I would like to introduce myself my name is Mazzy and I come from Australia.
I have been treated for pustular psoriasis on my foot
for which it is spreading, Iwent to a few doctors for which they were treating it as athletes foot ointments such as lamisil then a quartazone ointment still now success.
I practically had to beg to see a skin specialist for which cost me a fortune for a 10min consultation for which I finally found out what it is he said put this cream on for which it was advantan fatty ointment and wrap plactic around it and it will heal in two weeks but he was wrong
So I went to the hospital and saw a skin specialist there  put this lotion on methotrexate a cytotoxic topical lotion and also wrap plactic around it and wear a sock at night and also two week to heal and again wrong !
I dont like using methotrexate lotion as I was informed it could damage the liver if used for a long period of time so I went to a few herbalists and they say their treatment is not strong enough to kill the problem area as I dont want to use anything that is toxic anymore I am seeking advise on the subject.
Also has anybody use methotrexate?
I will be open to any advice that is given to me and thank you! :P

Welcome Mazzy ...good to have you along.

Sorry to hear about the pp on your foot.

There is a lot of info on the other boards re Methotrexate...particularly the Laboratory board.
Probably worth asking the question there too

HI Mazzy and welcome :)

Tom_B has written an excellent diary on MTX and is (as a lot of other people e.g. Saucy or SJ) very helpful :)

Pustular psoriasis can be localised or generalised...it is formed by little pustules or blisters and though pus-like, there is no infection present. It tends to be called Palmaplanter pustular psoriasis when it affects the hands and feet only (palm and plant...hands and feet?).

Welcome Mazzy  :)

I have never heard of methotrextate being given as a topical ointment before and can't find one single article anywhere on the web about it either. So sorry I can't be of any help  :-/

Hi Mazzy and welcome to the boards!  Check out the threads in the lab and on the alternatives board, you should get some ideas for treatments
