 Hi everyone,
Looks like I'm the senior citizen here, 48 yrs of flaking behind me & still counting - I mean scratching.  Started when I was still in short trousers back in the days of black & white everything, 1955 to be exact.
I'm a walking, talking encyclopaedia of the Big P.
Got a lot of memories to share. Anyone interested, you   know where I am.
;)

Hi i joined the forum about a fortnight ago but didn't have time to introduce myself properly
I have had P since i was about 16 it started witha spot the size ofa ten pence piece. I went on holiday to Torquay in1971 and got a brilliant tan, but when it faded a bit i noticed afew more spots on my arms, went to the doc whogave me betnovate, i went back and told himit was no good, he sent me to a dermatologist and from then it just got worse. been in hospital with it three times last time in 1987. I hven't been free of it just got on with it inthe last 4 years or so i have just used one tube of dermovate per year and used dead sea salt lotion I just get it to a level that will do me and I'm quite happy, its still unsightly to others but i try to have a good social life, go the gym, evening classes, jogging which keeps my mind of P. I actuallt went the doctors in August and he gave me Donovex which has cleared it, but still in the back of my mind is "rebound effect". I have tried creams, you know the ones £20 a jar, at first they were great then it just came back. Iused to lie in the sun for hours to clear my P but when the tan faded it came back worse, in the summer i don;t have time to lie in the sun, i may for half hour or so.
I have also tried MTX and at first I thiught great but what quality of life is that?
I have also tried  chinese remedy for a couple of months which involved no drinking alcohol ! for crissake we allneed some form of outlet
Just recently have changed my diet, cut down on red meat, no cheese, apart from goats cheese, plenty of fruit ansd feel really great, I am51 years of age married with three sons in their late twenties. I interviewed a young lad 20 yrears of age for a job in July and he noticed P on my arms , we discussed the matter nad he felt quite reassured, he got he job and is doing fine.
Many myths about P, although I still maintain that most sufferers I know are quite highly sexed, some old guy years ago told me that in Nazi germany, people with P wrere taken th the gas chambers
One guy I know who played in a band in the early sixties caims he worked with Tom Jones and he suffered from P, I knoe Ben Elton, Jason Donovan suffer from P, rumours that Prince Philip suffers from it
In the eighties there was talk that they wer going to make a film version of the Singing Detective ( I know they have since) and Dustin Hiffman was to play te lead part, I thought great!with Jason Donovamn "coming out"all these young kids will want to have P, thelittle buggers can have mine
KEEP SMILING COLLEAGUES WE'LL GET THERE INTHE END ! ;D
