« on: September 18, 2006, 09:47:01 PM »
 :) hello neil here

found out i have guttate psoriasis on friday. my doctor did not know what it was, gave me a course of sterroids which made it worse, went to see a spetialist on friday and gave me the good news.  put me on a waiting list for uvb treatment, dont know how long that will be. have 3 different creams too use for the next 30 days, 1st one doesnt seem to be doing anything, only turning my arms & groin yellow :'(

Hello and welcome along

No magical cure I am afraid. The cream may help a little, but the UV is generally extremely good!!! So hang in there and wait for that appt. Always worth ringing the UV unit in a week or so to find out what is happening  ;)

Gutttate P is generally triggered by a viral throat infection. Did you experience that? One positive thing is that guttate P can be cleared and held at bay....if you take good care of yourself and get some anti-biotics as soon as you feel a sore throat coming on (perhaps worth the GP taking a swab and looking for a strep infection because it doesn't alwayspresent symptoms, but can cause a flare in guttate  :().

Hi Webby

Welcome to the site.

The yellowing cream may be Trimovate - a mix of an anti-fungal preparation with a mild steroid, I find it turns me a bit yellow  - as well as my clothes.
Have you been given any Exorex?  Thsi is good for guttate p as it is a lotion and is easily applied - this is also yellow and bit smelly  :-/ but if steroids didn't work then it may be worth a shot.
Also I would hassle the UVB people to check if any cancellations come up.

Hope you enjoy the forum.

Hi

I also have guttate and I use oilatum bath oil and Dermol shower gel.  Also if you use a good moisturiser several times a day it helps a lot.

Good luck
 :)

Hi there

I also have guttate p. I use Oilatum in the bath, and I also use eucerin with 10% urea as a moisteruiser, its really good. If you havent already, you might want to consider getting a prepayment certificate then you can get everything you need on repeat prescription, otherwise it can become very expensive when prescriptions are £6.65 a piece. PPC is currently just under £40 for 4 months!

I've had UVB and PUVA, found UVB worked best. Elocon steroid is good for the scaly spots, but cannot use all the time, I alternate with silkis ointment (non steroid).

Hope this helps.
