You may have something there Kimmy. OK I was bad when my mom died maybe becasue I was only 21. I have obvisously had berievments since which have not had such a bad affect on my skin, as you say, sadness rather than stress. This last event was such a shock, and the situation went from bad to worse over a period of almost a year - i will talk about it at some stage  :-[ and the p got progesively worse as time went on. Like you I felt anger and that I could not do anything to help the situation.  Now things have settled down and worked out OK I just can't get the p to settle down. Roll on UVB  8)

UVB cleared mine really well - I only had 20 sessions.  It is creeping back a little, but I was platered and so sore, so a few little bits seem like nothing.  Thats the one good thing about being our age , been through the teenage trauma of not being able to wear short sleeves, go swimming etc .

Very interesting thread, I only got my first bad flare of p after my mum died last year although I'd had it undiagnosed on my face for a few years before that.  I'm 47 and think I may be just starting the menopause now but from what I've read, women go through a pre-menopausal stage where their hormones start to get imbalanced which could also account for my flare last year.  I have noticed that the p gets worse at that time of the month so it stands to reason that when your hormones are playing up, the p will.

As for stress, I once read that our bodies can take severe amounts of emotional turmoil and not show any physical or mental symptoms at all but then something seemingly very trivial can happen and it can be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Anyway, I hope the UVB does the trick for you  :)

Jackie, you know it's strange. I suffered years of bad times of the month ( and my p was always worse then), and I had a stressful job and worked long hours. Up at 6 every morning and off to work however I was feeling, and my p was never this bad. Now I work for myself from home  ::), no real money worries ( well no more than most in the current climate) my time of the months are almost history  ;D and I feel so much better in myself. But my p is the worst it has ever been in the 40 years I've suffered with it. So apart from the stressful event around 18 months ago, which is more or less settled now, my p is my only reason for being stressed  :-\

Oh, does anyone know a cheap way to get Dead Sea Salt (genuine stuff) I want to start using it in my bath but it's £4.95/Kilo at H&B and you need a Kilo per bath. Cheers

Hi Gal,

I'm new on here too, and have just about finished going through menopause (YEA!!!) but must say that I did not find it to have affected my p in any way. I also had (still have some) hot flushes (day and night) but my p has remained consistant in its usual cycle of seasonal variations. I long ago gave up on any prescribed treatments, espcially those that are steroid based as I believe I have permanent side effects from them, but just handle my p with moisturising lotions and a home sunbed that I use sparingly when I feel it necessary.

Good luck!  :)

Sorry Gal, can't really be much help. I've done puberty with p (which wasn't fun), so i can't wait for menopause to come along! ::)
Hope others can give you some advice.
