Hi Guys,

Read some of your stories and found quite a lot of empathy with them.

I have suffered from P & Asthma from the age of 2, I'm now 29 and have had about 5-6 years of remission off and on.  I've had all sorts of treatments some of which have worked better than others, some of which have not worked at all.

I, like Micheal also work in the IT industry which is one of the most stressfull industries to work in being fast moving and forever changing.  What makes it fun though is that one of my collegues suffers from ezcema, we exchange jokes about each others epidermis daily.

When i was at school I never really got much slagging about P, only one instance sticks out in my mind, the time a PE teacher asked me what the "rash" was in front off all my class mates on a trip to the swimming pool.  This truly shows what blind ignorance and stupidy exists in society in their attitude to P.

Managed to shrug off the Asthma when I was 12 and grew out of it, one good thing I suppose.

When I was 15 I took a really bad breakout and needed 3 weeks  hospital treatment, (the usual mummy treatment).  This cleared me up and I did'nt have another outbreak until I was about 19.

P has been moderate since then, but I have about 5 small spots of my face, mainly due the stress from work and the problems from the birth of my last child, although she's fine now.

I now have two girls, one 3 and one 5 months, I just hope they don't inherit it from me.  I am the worst hit out of my immediate family and my cousins.  If it does happen at least I have some new friends to fall back on for advice.

Anyway, think I am now heading for another period of remission and the outlook is good. I have started new treatment and decided not to let stress get the better of me.

Good luck to all, and don't let it get the better of you

Hello Pip,

I agree about the empathy bit for once in my life i dont feel im the only one with the dreaded p.

Never a truer word said

Lets hope we can change that attitude and this site is the ideal platform.

WELCOME ON BOARD

Dear Pip

Welcome  ;)  ;)

I think there is a def link with P and A and E.  Not sure what but it seems to be that if there is a history of P you will find A and E lurking there somewhere...

Best of luck with your remission. :)  :)

Hiya Pip! My youngest of 5 children is 7 months old and 3 months after giving birth, I had the biggest breakout ever. I am slowly "healing" I believe. Im wondering if you had any after effects of giving birth..how was your P during the pregnancy?

Hi Patchymomma,

It was my girlfriend who was having the baby, the stress if the birth and the problems leading up to it caused me to flare up.

Thanks
Philip (Pip)

:o ;)oops, sorry pip, hehe... didnt see that you were a fella there. Hm, I must have been online rather late. I usually fall asleep looking right at my laptop, lol.. its my only time with a full day at work and a full evening of family time and stuff.
Basically stress triggers this darn P and if we can just single out the chemical stress releases then these docs should be able to create some type of hormone blocker and keep the P away and hey, keep us neutral in stressful situations? hm...a thought there.  ::)
