Plaque psoriasis, never gone away!
« on: January 24, 2012, 06:34:08 PM »
Hi there I'm a newbie by the way.

Just wanted to share my brief story. I first got plaque psoriasis as a baby at just 3 days old and it has never gone away since!
(I am now 22) it started as a nappy rash and rapidly spread to my scalp. Over the years I've also had it spread to all the right hand side of my face, on my legs and arms, which then spread back onto my scalp covering the whole area of my scalp. Now I still have it on my scalp the same but recently it also developed across my neck and face again. Basically it has never gone away it just moves from one area to another. I was just wondering what's the longest time anyone has had plaque psoriasis continually with no break?

Thanks

My longest break was when I was on UVB treatment, I cleared at 14 weeks of UVB had two more weeks treatment and it stayed away for two weeks after, so 4 weeks all together. I developed psoriasis at 13 and i'm not 23.

I have only just in the last two weeks found out what its like to have psoriasis on my face - at the same time I have found out what its like to not leave the house  :(

What treatment are you on at the moment?

Sorry to hear you've being having such a tough time with it.
I completely understand about not wanting to leave the house it's so awful when it's on your face, especially because you cant do anything to hide it  :-[

I'm currently on Eumovate ointment for my face and neck and also Protopic 0.1% to try also for face and neck I tried it a few days ago but I think it may have given me a bad reaction as it made my neck feel like it was on fire and burning so I haven't used it since.

I don't have any treatments for my scalp at the moment other than having bath every third night and scratching scales off with my nails and then with a metal tooth comb (hurts like hell and takes 2hrs!)

I've only just recently started seeing dermatologist again, prior to now I last saw one when I was 15 went through every topical treatment they could give me in every strength but after only a year was told it wasn't worth me continuing to go anymore so I haven't had much help so far how about you?

OMG - "I don't have any treatments for my scalp at the moment other than having bath every third night and scratching scales off with my nails and then with a metal tooth comb (hurts like hell and takes 2hrs!)"

Don't do that, you will make it worse, honestly don't do that! Your doctor should tell you the same!

As for Eumovate for you face that os probibly the best to use - very weak - but if its not working you should defiantly be trying something else.

Now your older you can tell them exactly what your thinkin, so if your thinkin the creams aren't working tell them that! There's so much out there that may help.

I had UVB as I said, at the minute I'm not on any treatment apart from Doublebase to moisturise, on the waiting list to see the Derm. But I have decided I will clear my P up this year - i'll be speaking up for myself and find somthing that works¬

i have had plaque since 21 im now 39 cleared on holiday enough times but have always thought natural ways will be my reso,ve anyway ive been on these forums for years &  year potions upon potions and yes the banned ones were really great they cleared me within 2 weeks - the only other clearnace at this point was uvb but as soon as it clears it comes back and yes always normal places say elbows but where its on hand before it comes back on arm ive had weirs patches over the years anyway i got into nutrition some yrs ago i started to get clearance especially with some sun help and on my 2nd year now of this plan im pretty much clear - i believe its all diet hydration - moisturise onto exercise and certain vits and there you have it a year 2 years down the line and you got if its not under control that you have a little dry skin but its not raging red then you cracked it mail me if you want some diet that will help its all free//
