Psoriasis, My Short story,
« on: December 23, 2011, 12:20:39 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I have had this 'orrible' skin disease since i was a babe in arms. I am now an old retired pensioner with Motor Neurone Desease, which there ain't no cure for either. As for Psoriasis treatments, i think i have tried them all. I have had it very bad, and as a child at school in the fifties, well other children can be very cruel.

I also have Psoriatic arthritis, i took methatrexate for it and the side affects were about 40 mouth ulcers, so i did not take no more of them. I no longer have arthritis as i have been taking Glucosamine & Chondroitin tablets, from a company called "Healthspan LTD". I have been taking these tablets for more than 25 years with no side affects and no arthritis.

I also use a cream for my psoriasis called, Zambesi Botanica Cream. The Zambesi cream is made locally near to where i live. It is made  by Hobbs Chemist of Tunbridge Wells, they make 2 kinds, Normal and Extra for body and scalp. It does not cure the psoriasis, but it does sooth it and keeps it moist. There are no chemicals in these creams, it is made from a tree root. You cannot get either of these products on prescription, and they are expensive. You can buy these products by mail order.
A.E. Hobbs Ltd 72 Mount Pleasant Road Tunbridge Wells Kent.Tele, 01892 546565.

Unfortunately my youngest son also has severe psoriasis, he had UVB treatment and that helped him enormously. He now lives and works in N.Zealand. My son uses organic creams and not chemical based ones as i am now suffering with Motor Neurone Disease. I have been rubbing chemicals into my body for 60 years, and taking chemical based pills.

Hi Ivan,  welcome to PHO.

It's good to hear you have been able to help your PA.  Shame the P is proving more difficult for you.

Merry Christmas

Hi Ivan, I also use glucosamine for my PA.  May I ask what dosage are you taking? Have you ever taken glucosamine by itself?

My PA flares from time to time, especially my wrists and fingers. Do you ever get any mild pain to suggest you are having a flare up?

Hello TrishR and Eveloftus, Thank you for the welcome.
Eveloftus, To anwser your question on dosage. I now take a Healthspan liquid, 15ml diluted in a small glass of water provides the perfect combination of 1,500mg optiflex Glucosamine HCI. 300ml of Marine Chondroitin, 50ml of the finest distilled Optil MSM and 60ml of vitamin c. I hope you understand all that. my wife does all the buying now as i can no longer talk due to my illness.

I take the liquid as i can no longer swallow tablets due to my MND. I have never taken glucosamine by itself. When i was in my thirties i could not walk very well for the pain in my knees and feet. My wrist were painful as well. I do not have any pain at all now and have not since i started on glucosamine.

I still have P all over my legs and all up my arms. I was a carpenter and when i worked on the building sites i would wear shorts and shoes only and let the sun do the job of healing my P, and i could keep it under control that way. Now i'm in a wheel chair i cannot control it as i'm not a pretty-sight to look at in my wheel chair with just shorts on. ;)

thanks Ivan for the clarifications! so sorry about the MND, being in a wheel chair and not being able to talk is not easy. I have a lot of conditions too, but nothing like that. I hope your body P is not too bad. I am doing UVB (narrow band) for mine with a home lamp, and cannot stop because when I do there is a bad rebound.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!
