Psoriasis on my face - help wanted
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:18:08 PM »
I use to have the odd patch of psoriasis no bigger than a 50 pence piece and only one at a time so my p was very mild up until almost a year ago when I had a bout of severe tonsillitis and within a couple of weeks I'd started to break out with guttate psoriasis.

I have splodges every where, and where they're in close proximity they join up. I can deal with this as they're not painful and I'm generally a cold individual so I cover up pretty much all year round anyway.

It took a lot to get my doctor to refer me to dermatologist and he only did so at the start of the month. Within the last week I've had my guttate flare up all over my face, I can't try and cover it up with make up as whilst it does last a few hours it itches, the makeup fades and then when I remove it my skin hurts and the p looks very red even when using something mild like simple. It's so bad I've resorted to arranging a private appointment just so I can see a dermatologist as soon as possible.

Can anyone recommend any super gentle cleanser, toner, moisturiser etc which is unlikely to irritate my skin and any make up that I can use to cover my P up that is gentle and won't make it worse whilst having good coverage?

hi, Medea

we all diff peps what help 1 does not mean it helps all

its a game of try and see what help you with the least side effects

most days even water is like a acid to my skin/face, and i wash in double base

your GP should /can prescribe camouflage creams   !  sounds like a change of GP is required
has your GP run allergy tests ?  a long course of pencilling been tried ? are you a strep carrier etc

? have you tried calamine lotion,/e45/ baby lotion wet wipes etc   all ways do a skin patch test first

theres loads of info on here on facial p  camouflage creams etc well worth a search

hope you find a  teatment/moisturiser etc  that helps you soon
