Acetretin & alcohol
« on: September 24, 2003, 11:17:28 PM »
A couple of articles on Acetretin advise avoiding alcohol
during treatment and afterwards for two months.
My derm says it's okay to drink in moderation.
Can anybody aid my confusion on this point.
Thank you ((?o

My gp said around 3-5 pints a week would be ok. But I havnt had a drop apart from last week where I had 5 bottles of becks. But then again my blood tests all came up tops 3wks before. Just had some more blood tests done today and am going back on a non drink spell till my birthday in 2months time. Best to stay away from drink. And this is coming from a former boozer  until I started acitretin lol.
Not many posts to my name. But each reply is worth 20yrs of P experience.

I was always lead to believe that low level consumption was ok BUT having odd test reslts now would lead me to question that thinking.
So its no drinkies untill the tests go normal and I have finished my next course - just waiting for the go at the moment.
Lets face it, [speaking as a lover of all things ale based and alcoholic] no booze or no P? No contest!!

Thank you folks for your input.
I still wonder why no alcohol is advised.
Is it because it weakens the effect of the drug or will it damage my liver or kidneys?
Has anybody ever had this point explained?

My Derm says that I can imbibe in moderation and I am on 30mg of Neotigason daily. So I imbibe, in moderation, with, seemingly, no ill effects. ;D

Previously I was on MTX for two and a half years and that had a strict no alchohol caviat. :(
