Advise on my Scalp Please
« on: January 25, 2009, 09:53:33 PM »
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can put on my scalp to ease the P I have on there. I have little spots and bits of flacky skin on my scalp now.

Unfortunatly I am almost bald!!!! This doesn`t help hide the P. I have tried T Gel, its ok but not great. Amy suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks

Ste

I have the same problem.  >:(

Acitretin use has thinned my hair and it is very short.

I never used to have scalp psoriasis but somehow the Acitretin has triggered it.

Now I have small spots in my scalp and redness behind my ears.

I cant even hide it.
Not many posts to my name. But each reply is worth 20yrs of P experience.

There is a medicine in the US called Olux which I have used and have had great results.  It is a foam that liquefies when it touches body heat; it is easy to spread and get into the scalp.  You should see if it's available in the UK or if their is an analog.

Hello & Welcome Stekelly.  8)

I found Arachis Oil (Refined Peanut Oil ) is good for the scalp.

You leave it on over night then wash it out with a good shampoo in the morning. Use a fine tooth comb on it. A nit comb is ideal. Then give it a good brush.

You can get this from your G.P. or health food shops.

I used this when my scalp P was very bad or dry. I used to have scalp P very bad.

DONT USE if you have a peanut allergy.

You could also try T-Gel or Alphosyl Shampoo. You could also try Bettamouse shampoo which you can only get from your G.P. as it contains steroids. I used it once and have never looked back.  :)

Re your scalp psoriasis: my hairdresser uses a product called KERASTASE Biotic two-step treatment on my scalp and it COMPLETELY clears my scalp of psoriasis for up to a week.  It does grow back but it is nice to be psoriasis-free for a few days!  I thoroughly recommend it.

Hi!

Like you I also have psoriasis on my scalp.  Only the section behind my left ear is clear of it, it's not a nice thing to have to deal with.

So far I have used a few treatments with only one being successful.  I used Polytar a few years back and it completely cleared my scalp.  It has since returned and Polytar doesn't seem to work with me anymore.  I have also used T-Gel, Nizoral and Dovonex Cream but to no avail.  At the moment I am using Capasal Shampoo along with Betnovate Scalp Application, I have been using these for a few weeks now and although it seemed to be getting better, it's took a turn for the worse.

As you'll know, everyone reacts differently to treatments and these are a few that I have used so far.  I hope you get your problem sorted.

I find the best thing for my scalp is the liquid Diprosalic scalp application.  Using it for 2 or 3 nights in a row usually completely clears it up.

My loving wife does a great job with a head massage!
