crisis Help?
« on: September 03, 2010, 09:33:12 AM »
Im on holiday but im going home today. The first day i suffered the worst outbreak ever. im in agony, ive taken anti histamines and ibruprofen. Im covered head to toe and my skin feels like its on fire.
I just wondered what can I do. My friend said he went to hospital for 6 weeks when he was really bad. Im in a really bad way. Would A and e be able to admit me or will I be able to get an emergency dermatolgist or docs appointment. I am desperate please help

Oh poor you  :( :(
I couldn't read and run but I don't really know the answer. I was an inpatient as an emergency about 10 yrs ago;rang my GP in a similar state to you and because of our good relationship she knew it must be bad and rang the derm and got me admitted that afternoon.
I don't know if it depends whether a hosp has any beds saved fo derm cases. But you need to see a GP at the very least, pronto.  Do you have a sympathetc GP?

EDIT:If you are in a lot of pain you could try a&e: nothing to lose?

I try and take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Sorry you're in such a bad way. I was admitted 20 2 weeks a couple of months ago when I was really bad but this happened when I saw the derm. I'd rung to ask if they could bring my appointment forward as I was so bad. I'm pretty sure I read on here that a couple of people had been admitted by A + E so it's definitely worth a try. You do nee to see someone sweetheart. please let us know how you go on.  :-*

Are u seeing a derm at the hospital? If so ring her/him as soon as poss. Otherwise yes i would go to A&E and make sure you let them know the state you are in, dont be fobbed off with a tube of cream. Believe me , bursting into tears does the trick!

Hope u get better soon x

hi Kat, sorry to hear that.

ring your hospital derm or secretary to see if you can get an emergency appt today or get your gp to make an emergency referral to them if that fails..
depending on hospital protocols..they may only see emergency referrals made by gp...or if no joy..off to a&e.
hope you get sorted pronto.

Hi Kat,

It sounds to me like you may have had a guttate attack - lots of pin dots of P that is usually caused by a throat infection.

I agree with the others that you need to get seen asap and as people do not understand, the tears may come in handy and also insist on seeing a derm if they are fobbing you off!!

good luck hun - nothing worse than suffering covered

Hi Kat - sorry to hear you not well - but defo tears will come in handy... A couple of years back I was in a similar position and was really upset and did not give up until I was admitted to hospital for a 3weeks.I am in Ireland - I had Medical Insurance so got the Dermo to admit me. The A&E option sounds like a good idea also...  Im sure you will get the help you need - Best of Luck with it. Marie
