dermalight
« on: February 26, 2008, 09:16:22 AM »
Hi all ,

I have bought a Dermalight 80 which is a hand-held UVB lamp and although expensive (£150.00) it has been worth it already as many of my patches are virtually gone.  it is a bit time consuming but i tend to use it while i'm watching the soaps, so it's not so bad.

My question is, i have 2 large stubborn patches on my leg which will go eventually but i was wondering if anyone knows whether i could combine the Dermalight with using Calcipotriol ointment?

any advice would be great

I recommend that anyone with psoriasis gets one of these little machines , it's been a godsend as i don't have to go for hospital uvb which is quite a way away and with 2 young children, would be a right pain in the butt.

thanks in advance

Hello

When I had my last set of sessions of UVB I used both Dovonex and Polytar.  The only thing I was told to avoid was to use them at the same time as having the light exposure  - so wash your skin before you settle down in front of Corrie and the dermalight   ;)

i would assume so

tho prob not at the same time ie cream and uvb while watching the soaps

you could apply the cream after the uvb side

i know ive used all creams after uvb at the hospital

ya could use dithranol cream, the perscibable ones,
made by dermaal labs,
range from 0.1% (aqua blue tube) up to yellow 2.0%
at least its old fashsoined and burns it off lol,
obviously not for the face and ears etc,
were as clicitphitbare all........is more sunshine derived,
trying to avoid the double sunshine effect,(might? cause problems),
all depends how deperate people can get thru trying to clear c**p p,
not having a pop at anyone, but some people new or desperate to p,
might go crazy,

only going on past experience yonks ago,

hi, i've been using it for about 3 weeks now and alot of my smaller patches have gone.  the big ones are taking a bit longer so am using the calcipotriol aswell.

you have to start using the light for about 40 seconds per area and build up to 4 minutes at the most but you can only use upto 4 times weekly.

thanks for all your replies

hi,  Rachel

i have a home under/over n/b uvb bed
and  used mostly now with dovobet 2hr before start ie = puvb
and even  have had  mtx+n/b uvb = puvb under the derm/ clinic
you  can/should shorten your uvb time  if using topicals etc, make allowance & compensate
 IE use less joules
keep a diary of times/sessions and self examine on moles/new1s etc
it would take me yrs with a hand held let alone, getting some 1 with time to do my to do my back

best to  always run any self/ treatments past your derm/gp first

I have used my friends dermalight yesterday and today...on view to maybe buying it from her.....My patches look flatter and are red...is this typical after treatment..I have used it for one minute on each area....takes bloody ages...all of last nights news and this morning for half an hour. if it works...well worth it...if not....poooooooooooooohhhhhhhh :P

What are the after effects you have found when you used it Tracey and Luvvi...and Tracey, when did you start to see results..
