hi

i've tried both dovobet and dovonex and i couldnt get on with them. They made my normal skin sore. As for moisturising, yes its easy to become very lazy as its such a chore!! I use Aveeno which my derm gave me on prescription. Its really soothing.

My trick is to find a 10 or 15 minute video (pod casts are great for this) and watch it on the PC whilst creaming up before bed. It's almost an end of the day treat then!

Dovonex does tend to cause problems with my normal skin as well. It causes it to flake slightly which is a very ugly sight so I only use it when I have  a bad patch. It seems to work for me. For now....

Just throwing my two cents in here...

Dovonex cream was the only thing that helped stop the burning and pain for me, although the cream has now been discontinued, although there is an ointment available. I haven't tried the ointment, but apparently it's just as good.

E45 was the most painful and nasty thing I ever put on my P! It burnt like hell and didn't help at all. To moisturise, I now use The Body Shop's vitamin E Moisture Cream. It's expensive, but you don't need much, and it's not greasy and doesn't hurt, even on broken skin.

A routine is the best thing for applying creams/ointments, and most of them actually work better if you apply them at night. I like the idea of sleeping in surgical gloves, so you can cover your hands in cream overnight. Might take some getting used to, but it would probably work wonders.

have read should moisturise. I currently use E45, which doesn't seem good. Any suggestions?
Have read C is this Ponds Cold cream? Where can I get it?

I have used huge amounts of "Aqueous Cream BP" for years. It's sold by all pharmacies at a couple of ukpounds per 500g tub. It soaks in quickly and softens the flakes and scales so that they come off easily, without further damage. Because the skin is softened, it it probably assists the penetration and absorption of any other topical potions, which might otherwise just sit on top of the P lesions.

The gigantic advantage over E45 is the price, unless you get it on prescription.

Good luck!

Dovobet and Dovonex are both Calcipotriol topicals but Dovobet has Betamethasone added which is the steroid part, hence the post-treatment rebounds and the thinning skin, which bleeds easily.  I find Dovonex ointment really good but I found the thinner cream (discontinued) useless. I love E45, which does show we're all different in our skins' reaction to treatments.
