Facial Psoriasis
« on: May 18, 2011, 09:36:29 AM »
Hi,

Suffer from mild P on face for years now, but getting worse.
Had a few days break camping and saw marked improvement.
Returned home and back in a couple of day.
Steadily got worse.
Went to GP and as improvement coincided with taking antibiotics and piriton we agreed to try em again.
Face was on fire for a few days , swollen, puffy eyes, and absolute hell even with cold water on it.
Dropped the Antibiotics and carried on with piriton (to reduce redness and swelling?).
Happened to be away again for 4 days camping and came back a new man.
My skin was the best it has ever, and I mean ever been!

Benn home now for 2 weeks and its crept back and now back to normal. ie. not great !!

I can only assume it was the sunshine that helped, plus poss being out of house.

Trying to eliminate some causes.
1. Lack of sun, i work indoors and don't get much!
2. We have a cat! Is this a possible trigger/
3. Less alcohol while I was away, but only a glass or two at home.
4. Early nights, 10-12 hours sleep!!

My gut feeling is its the outdoors which just make me feel "better" and sunlight which help me skin.

Am going to see GP Friday (he is actually interested!) and thinking of Vit D3 as diet supplement.

Any thoughts on any of the above would be graetly appreciated.............

Protopic also irritated my skin, with burning sensations. Dovonex works better for me and I tolerate it better. I use it 2 to 3 times a week only. If you use it that way it won't cause any redness or irritation which could occur if you use it daily.

Hi Bev, but now that your facial P cleared and you stop using the Elocon, the P might rebound, that's the problem with using steroid creams.

steroids on face - against chronic deseases like psoriasis - is useless.
you trap into a vicious circle ....

of course it helps. but it comes back when you finish.

after a while your skin acts like a junkie with two options:
1. getting stronger steroids (getting up the dose)
2. getting out cold turkey with hard times following ....

believe me, look for other options. steroids on face is a life killer after a while.

:)hi yes i understand that there are rebounds after using steroids, but i can say with Elocon for one the face, it stays away for a long time, infact i put it on my eyebrows and it hasnt come bak since and that was 2 yrs ago
