Has anyone bought a UV sunbed?
« on: February 19, 2009, 12:56:50 PM »
Hello, I've just joined this site.  I'm 34, female and have suffered from psoriasis (everywhere!) for around 8 years.  It was only last year that I was referred for light treatment and it was a revelation.  It made me feel human again.  However, my psoriasis is back and I'm now looking at the rest of my life wondering how to eek out my ration of light treatment!  If i have it every year then life beyond 40 will see no relief from psoriasis. A dismal prospect.

So, I'm condisdering buying a UV 'sunbed'.  I'd be grateful to hear if anyone else has and what their views are.

hi, ya

i take it you had nb-uvb light treament
? how often is your derm willing to prescribe it, ie when its reached 30% coverage !

i have &  use a up/over bed  i adapted to nb-uvb

ive  had all my  jouels =  nhs light treatment allowed

we all defferent peps & skin types p types etc

i have got tolerant to light treatment  ie dovobet and nb/uvb  etc dont give me a remission now but helps me to manage it , my tube life must near its end
but i still get the feel good factor from it

there are loads of posts on here about  uva/uvb home use
well worth a search

only you can way up risks ie the fors' and against

? as your derm discussed drmds/tnf's

i use a uva 40 tube walk-in one at home but do not go mad in it
will start to use just before the summer
i will start off by 1min working my way up to ten min max over a period of time
if you are going to use one make sure you make a list on your computer how much time and when you use it
and any reaction you get
don't get yourself burnt by staying in to long the first time

Ive been seriously thinking about buying one. I just dont have time to go to the hospital and taking vit d capsules seems to be helping. So im hoping that if I do buy once I could be much clearer...
