Help with Enbrel injection please
« on: March 12, 2010, 01:53:10 AM »
Has anyone had the enbrel come back out of their leg after they have injected it?  I just gave myself my injections and on one of them, when I pulled the needle out the Enbrel then started pouring out of the hole in my leg.

Umm, is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks

Yikes Kat,  as you know,  I've no idea.  And neither have I seen it mentioned on any other threads!  Hope you've phoned your derm dept.   :-*

Good Lord, never heard of that one  :o
You should probably ask the derm nurse or someone about it

Did you wait a few seconds before removing the needle?  I was told to do this so that the medicine had time to start absorbing in to the skin (in my case flab!) to avoid any coming out.  Sometimes I have had a drop come out, but it certainly didn't pour out!   :o

Hi guys, I couldnt contact my derm as his office is shut on Fridays and I rang my GP and he is on holidays for 4 weeks.

It was weird.  It was like  my body said, nope, I am not having this and it spat it back out at me!  The second injection went without hiccup but the first was just bizarre.

How strange  :-\ Is it a site you have used before, could it be that that particular bit of skin is fed up with it? I know my instructions said to always rotate and keep at least 3 cm away from previous sites.

I think you are right!

I just got hold of a friend who is on Enbrel and he said it has happened to him!  When he rang Wyeth about it they said you can accidently hit scar tissue and then the Enbrel literally spurts back out at you.  As he said, it is really disconcerting when it happens.  :o

I'm trying to persuade myself to try my thighs as I'm getting terrible site reactions from it on my belly and I'm also finding it sort of runs down inside my stretch marks and they all swell up no matter how I hard I try to keep it away from them so yes, it seems like it does go straight for damaged areas

I havent done my tummy yet, I have just been doing my thighs and luckily no site reactions so far. It takes me a bit of courage to shove the syringe in so having the enbrel come back out again was a tad offputting.

This med is a strange thing isnt it.  It becomes amazing what we just sort of accept.

Hopefully this stuff will actually start doing some good soon! .
