Saw derm yesterday and he was concerned about the side effects I was having on such low dosage - diarrhoea, flushing, cramps - so we are moving forward with just 2 blue tablets a day for 2 weeks, then 3 blue tablets a day for the next 2 weeks until I see him again.  I'm getting worried that if the side effects get really bad, I will need to be taken off Fumaderm.  I have already been to the toilet 3 times this morning.  I hope to see improvement on 3 blue tablets a day after 4 weeks.  If Fumaderm doesn't work then it's biologics for me but they take several weeks or months to get the go ahead and that means many more months with patches.

I had all those symtoms from the minute I took the first white tablet!  Try taking your meds with milk and a banana it does help.  The side effects do normally slow down but don't completely go away!  Eat little but often and take lots of water throughout the day!  The flushing and cramping are horrible but I am sure that without the side effects the tablets have no effect on my skin!

Good luck!

I feel for you Lamvox, that cant be pleasant, at the same time im slightly envious. Im on 2 blue tablets at the moment, my skin still getting worse each day, and not a side effect insight, unless u couunt the constipation which isnt even ment to be one of the side effects, not sure i can continue on with these much longer to sore going to the loo. Ive tried everything, dried prunes, apricots, bran flakes, wheat flakes, bananas, lots of water. Im all fibred out. Feel like im wasting my time and should be trying something else.

How many tablets were you on when started getting the regualr side effects ?

Like Luvvi, I had bad flushing the first night I took the first white tablet.  It wasn't long after that and still on very low doses that the diarrhoea started.  The cramps are a more recent side effect.

Hey just been to the derm, he is sending me for light treatment on my request. But he has put me up to the max dosage of fumaderm. I had been building up weekly and got to 3 blue tablets and now he wants me to take 6 blue tablets a day. I thought this was a bit of a jump. Not sure if I should just continue increasing the dosage weekly or jump up to the max amount.

Any advice?

I saw the derm today and he kept me on 3 blue tablets a day for the next 6 weeks.  He would not even contemplate jumping to 4 a day, never mind six.  My skin is slowly improving on 3 a day so maybe that's why he didn't make the jump.  I wanted to go to 4 a day to make the clearing process quicker but he held back.  Seems that there is a lot of conflicting advice on how to administer this drug.  Some derms like mine appear ultra cautious.

I would definetly continue to build up mate. From my experience jumping from 3 to 6 would be a bad idea unless you live in a toilet
and have guts of steel. My advice... continue doing what youve been doing. that and the light treatment youll be seeing good results in no time ;)

Yeh, i moved up to 4 blue tablets and will do 5 next week, skin is still slowly gettingbetter , not totally convinced its the tablets think it might just be calming down after coming off the cylcosporin. Still no side effects yet though. im going to see it out till im on the max tablets and then after a month if it still there just try something else.

I took MTX and Fumaderm together and I was a toxic mess ugh!

Build it up and see how you do.  My Derm trusts me to take mine to suit my needs I go between zero and four blues.  I never take six but the option is there if I need a boost!

I told someone today I had severe psoriasis and the looked at me as if I was mad.....it was a wonderful moment a year ago I was a flaking, crusty, bloody mess who couldn't walk or sit!  Life is good...as long as I know where there is a loo  ;D

I was on the max of 6 but have been reduced down to 3 for the last month and only have 2 small patches - and practically no side effects. All good. Best of luck with it.  :)
